Do we need help?

If porn has done anything negative to people is that many people take the ideas of porn into real life. I have read posts and hear people talking about what they expect from others as far as looks and sexual habits are concerned. Porn is a fantasy and people need to remember that: most women are not 5'1 and 100lbs with breasts bigger than their head, nor do they like facials, nor they fucked extremely rough and being spit on, all men do not have 10'' penises or can have sex for 30 minutes without cumming. These are the types of social problems porn has caused. Many of us need to learn where the fantasy of porn ends and our reality begins. A heard a fashion editor say that the entire bleached blond, big boob movement originated in porn and he did not care for it. We cannot blame porn for any of these things we can only blame ourselves. Porn is not ******* us to watch it.

Well Joy I'll tell you what. I smoked heavily for 23 years. Quit 8 years ago. Had I been diagnosed as terminal (or if I eventually am) as a result of that smoking the last thing I'd think to do is sue the tobacco companies. The surgeon general's report came out in what, 1960? Plenty long enough ago for everyone to be fully aware of the dangers of smoking. To me a big part of what's wrong with society is a lack of personal accountability, which can then snowball into the vicious dynamic of an overtaxed judicial system, ambulance chasing lawyers, insurance companies charging us all up the wazoo, etc.

When it comes to porn I worry the most for those who are engaged in it, not for the consumer.

It's ridiculous to think that in today's world porn is anywhere near the top of the list of things that are harmful to anybody, ******** included. Not only is it nowhere near the top of the list, it's not even on the list.

I can't think of a SINGLE example of watching porn being the cause of harm to anyone. I don't care if a 5 year sees porn. I'm much more concerned with the video games he plays where he blows people's heads off, the news he watches at 6 pm headlined by 3 car crashes, 2 ******s, and a gay senator (which shouldn't be an issue). I'm more concerned that we can't see a nipple on basic cable, yet 7 nights a week I see stupid TV shows about psycho ****ers, rapists, serial ******ers, all capped off by the 11 o'clock glorification of our nation's sovereign manifest to bombard the middle east all the while denying ANY of it's citizen's a view of a woman's breast.

Porn never did **** to anybody and it should be disregarded as the least bit of a threat to the good of society. What is a threat is hatred, intolerance, and suppression of freedom. Which is what most bible thumping crusaders promote to fullest extent in their thinly veiled attempt to control the masses and silence anyone who does not fall into the back of the line of their lemmings.

Porn should not be allowed at work because it's a time waster, not because some decently paid 20 year old with a 84 IQ is getting semen blasted into her eyeballs by 6 viagra charged **** heads.

But I don't care if an 8 year old sees that, what I don't what him to see is how American society promotes ********, war, and intolerance while vehemently pursuing the suppression of it's citizens' freedoms.

Porn is that last thing we need to worry about.

(steps down off soap box......to go jerk off).

This post pretty much explains the way I feel about things too. Some of the things about **** watching porn I disagree with, but I echo that I really don't think porn is that much of a problem. I don't think any porn fans lives are being ruined by porn. Believing porn standards apply in real life may cause personal problems, especially in relationships, but unless the person is really stupid it won't ruin their life. Watching porn is a choice. Much more of a choice than smoking or ********. (Though I feel those are also choices.)

Several questions trouble me: If porn was so non-objectionable, why are some pre-Internet age variables still constant? For example.

a) Pornstars are still not accepted in respectable cinema
b)The mainstreaming of porn is still a mirage
c) The morality of the porn flick, all the values (whatever!) they uphold, are still continued as farmyard -- even the most arden porn lover wouldn't accept it
d) The market is still small in comparison to mainstream cinema

Forty years ago they didn't even show married couples ******** in the same bed on television shows. Over a hundred years ago there were a lot of people that thought you were doing something wrong if a woman wore a skirt that showed her knee. What's your point? Somehow I don't think our minds are now warped and the downfall of society is on us because they we have that.

You are mixing up things. Besides, I don't know from where you got that fact about TV channels not showing couples ******** on the same bed. Come, Hollywood was showing passionate kissing back in the 1930s and "I love Lucy" shows in the 1960s also had the occasional lip contact. But, though you indulge in misrepresentation, you do accept the point that if TV did not show couples ******** on the same bed and women's knees were not shown for the sake of public morality. Right? Well, do you accept my earlier contention that despite 13 years of porn bombardment on the Internet and the occasional New York Times story on how big is pornopia, porn remains an unmentionable. We don't want to like it, but somehow we cannot avoid liking it. That's my point. We are trapped by a pernicious system. Smoke the coffee, puh-lease!

I agree with what D-rock had to say. The times are continually changing. Porn is certainly not unmentionable amongst younger generations at least for me. Since I've joined, I've mentioned to many friends and acquaintances that I post on a porn board. No one thought there was anything wrong with that, many were interested. Just the mention of porn often led to a discussion of the subject. A couple of these people talked about porn they've watched or owned. Others weren't really into porn, but didn't think there was anything wrong with it. I personally feel the majority of porn fans are not ashamed of liking it. Why be ashamed to be aroused by the sight of sex? Sex is arousing.

The way you put it, porn has become part of life. But have you been busted watching porn by your own teenaged ********? Yes, such things are happening now and I intend writing a big article about an experience I know of. Then you will realise that nothing has changed in the way people perceive the porn influence. I know its a big hypocritical world out there. But, maybe, some

No, I want to like it. and don't want to avoid liking it. What I don't like is all the **** I *****, and the pot I smoke that gives me the munchies. I don't like working out only twice a week, eating shitty foods late at night, staying up too late and waking up tired, and all that ***** I hammered my brain with on Friday night. I don't like all those things that are unhealthy to me. But Porn sure isn't one of them. If porn is harmful to you then maybe you are trapped by a pernicious system, but not the free thinking folks around here that refuse to be influenced by some ridiculous societal quasi-standard. We don't care.

And if you can't choose the right time to jack off and avoid being caught by your ********, then you're just a poor decision maker. Try not to do that again.:hatsoff:

What do you mean by that? You were hooked on to porn before the Internet?

No, I meant I already needed psychological help before porn. As in, I was already addicted to other things long before porn. My jokes must not translate well online. :(

Interesting thread...

No we do not need help. Like someone here said a few pages back, anything can become an addiction. Things become addictions when you are a jerkoff who can't control themselves. *******, *****, ********, porn even playing chess can be an addiction.

I have been surfing porn on the internet for MANY years. I live a normal happy life. I have a good job, girlfriend, good friends and ******. "Addictions" don't ruin people, those people are already fucked up and they just need something to blame.

Still, if you try to simulate an out of body experience of yourself surfing porn, salivating before pictures of naked fornicators and perhaps even masterbating under the table with your eyes glued on to the screen, you will end up hating yourself. A low self-esteem will result. Anyway, I was telling you folks about this guy whose 18-year-old ******** busted him watching porn. He is a friend of mine. He is really a mental wreck now.
Does anybody have any rationalizing remarks for him?
