I believe they do. They all have cousins in Sherman Oaks too.
yup, pretty much. It's a small, incestious group. And if you work regularly, it doesn't take long to work with half of the industry in one way or another.
edit.. I am still half asleep because I read "Persians" as "porn stars" I really should drink coffee before logging on.. doh!
Incestuous? Isn't that illegal?yup, pretty much. It's a small, incestious group. And if you work regularly, it doesn't take long to work with half of the industry in one way or another.

To be honest many of the ladies are very nice looking and well put together. Check the Beauty/Dress Shops on Westwood Bl. Any of you regular American White guys like me ever date a Persian lady? How did it go with her and her family?
Don't forget to say goodbye on here before you commit suicide by smothering yourself in her hairy crutch.Dating one right now.

A little. They are more impressed by you making progress in learning it than anything. Also, some of those relatives would prefer you NOT know what they're saying about non-Persians at Thanksgiving.
I'm sure. I've known many Persian fellas that were smart-alecky and if they get out of line with me in Farsi I'd at least like to be aware of it. I only know English so I do a lot of "Hey Buddy!" or "How are you doing, my frrrrrrriend?" almost saying it in their accent. Seems to work unless they make fun of the Hillbilly(me) when they go back into their house.
I have neighbors that are Christian so talking some religious stuff is OK. I never speak politics although I made a remark about the Taliban that one of the older ladies seemed to enjoy. Figured that was safe enough.
Most Persians are about as religious as your average Cali liberal, meaning not at all. I would never bring up religion unless they bring it up first. Now, if you want to learn about pre-Islamic holidays like Nowruz (Persian New Year) than that will be great. Remember, a lot of their families came here to get away from Islamic control.
Never call them Arabs and don't clump them in as "Middle Eastern" and you'll be fine.
I would say that Persian sensibilities remind me of a mix of Greek, Indian and French. If you don't have a decent job and a respectable car, I wouldn't bother...
It's not so much that the girls are materialistic as they don't want to be embarrassed in front of their dads and relatives.
A lot of the folks I know celebrate Christmas at least the part about having a Christmas tree, Santa hat and dinner. This really isn't that strange as I know a lot of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist etc. Americans who will celebrate Christmas.
If they are going to date a non-Persian guy they'll be looking for a guy who appeals to their American side while respecting the cultural aspects. So don't constantly remind them that you have cultural differences, i.e. don't always remind them that they're Persian BUT go along with the cultural things like it's natural to you. If you have any ethnic stuff to share you should introduce them too. That way it's not an unequal relationship, both sides learning from each other is best.
I've mentioned my grandparents from Russia to kind of meet in the middle putting some ethnicity on me too. I never mention anything Persian basically almost treating them delicate like they were Amish. I also talk about food a lot.
I haven't done my first Iron Sheik impersonation yet but I'm dying to. I'd need to grow an evil black mustache first.
"I put'it you in the Cameeeeeeeeeel Clutch!"
I don't think that will work.
