I somewhat disagree with some of the premise. I'm not convinced that the Clovis people were wiped out.

People tend to populate areas close to water. Sea levels rose around 13,000 years ago. So wouldn’t make sense that we don’t find Clovis artifacts dated later than about 13,000 years ago?
