Two starving young girls were found desperate for food and water after allegedly being ****** to live in a tent outside their parents’ mobile home.

The girls, aged just three and four, were found wandering alone in the woods near the tent in Union County, Florida, in a scene that police described as ‘terrible’.

Their parents Mark, 25, and Kathy Tucker, 26, admitted they had left the ******** to fend for themselves but claimed they were protected by the ****** dog, police said.

‘It was just a terrible sight, terrible scene,’ Lieutenant Lyn Williams, of the Union County Sheriff's Office, told WJXT 4 News in Jacksonville.

‘There was no food (and) no water. That was the first thing the ******** asked for.’

The parents were in Gainesville getting **** treatment at a methadone clinic - and a ****** friend allegedly became concerned after they left home without their ********.

The couple were going to try to sell their ***** plasma at a donation centre instead of returning home, reported the Gainsville Sun.

The friend went back, found the tent with sheets and two beds inside and called 911, police said. The two girls were found wandering around wearing their pyjamas.

One had lost a shoe, reported WJXT 4. The two girls were dirty, hungry and thirsty - but otherwise unharmed, police said.

The couple also have a third ********, a five-year-old, but she was at school.

The ********’s grandmother was found in the home but police said she was not capable of caring for the girls and may not have even known who they were.

The tent was outside a mobile home that appeared to be undergoing repairs, but it did have electricity and running water.

The Tucker couple were arrested and were in jail on charges of ***** neglect on Thursday. All three ******** have been placed in a relative’s custody.
