Probably the president's role is somewhat over-stressed. It's not as if the U.S. economy exists in a vacuum that isn't impacted by global forces. But obviously there's no question a president's policies can have a tremendous impact.

I won't likely live to see it, but going forward the ranks of conservatives in america will continue to dwindle to the point where, should yet another conservative judge be appointed, at some not too distant point the court may frequently be ruling very much in opposition to the will of the majority.
Not to say that's never happened before, but my guess is that this time around the very least that's going to do is bring about the imposition of term limits on supremes, including retroactively the ones serving at that time.

Realistically it should have been done already. But the greater the political divide the greater the pressure builds to see it happen. An appointment for life never made sense anyway. The founders, in all their wisdom, seem not to have exercised all of their wisdom with that one.
