It's a little before your time but both Mario Andretti and A.J. Foyt have won a Daytona 500 and an Indy 500.

Yeah, I was going more contemporary - basically post open-wheel split. Plus, A.J. and Mario were running full time in USAC at the time of their wins at Daytona. Stewart was the first real defector.

Moving to a trailer in Fife, AL.
Tim Richmond was an Indy guy who came over to NASCAR. He was a talent, but he loved to party. I believe he was the first "big time" sports figure to die of AIDS, but no one knew until after he died. He was a fantastic driver

Not quite right. It came out in spring/summer '87 that he had AIDS and Nascar got a MD to falsify his positive drug test to get a look at his medical records. (Since the MD was also picked to head up the forthcoming NFL program, it drastically affected the NFL's willingness to put checks & balances in it, during the players strike fall '87.) Richmond didn't die until 8/89.

EDIT: Just saw your last post Rey. I guess I sort inadvertently answered it already. The IRL definitely relies on her too much and that's what worries me. They need Graham and Marco to live up to their potential. Also, TK is going to be done in a few years. Babysitting his teammates has shaved at least five years off of his career. He's one of the most genial and well respected drivers on the circuit. Dixon is an incredible driver with the personality of a trout. Not good considering that he's probably the most talented driver out there. So who else is going to share the limelight with the big names?

I haven't kept up with the Silly Season, but does Graham even have a ride for 2010? Tony never got the memo, but fans follow drivers, not (just) tracks. So I'd spend some money on making sure that certain drivers have rides (Rahal, Andretti, Hunter-Reay... and yeah, PT ;)). And the best thing for Marco would be to go to a team that won't coddle him. Daddy is not making him a better driver. I saw him race in Star Mazda and he had some great, raw talent. But since then, he seems to have slid pretty badly. Unfortunately for Marco, the longer he stays under Daddy's wing, he seems to take on more of his father's worst traits and fewer of his grandfather's good traits. Any driver that gets out of a car and says that he's afraid to drive it should be on a team that will fire him on the spot. Otherwise you end up with a whiney, lil punk... which is what Marco Parco is close to becoming (IMO). And if I was TK, I'd have gone to Ganassi and gotten as far away from Andretti Babysitting, Inc. as fast as I could.

Hey Godaddy, that's what I use to host my websites. I bet none of you even knew that lolz.

WTF does Godaddy even sell (after someone sees a commercial)? I think they sell boats, no it's trees, nope it's definitely super dolphins. You guys are all wrong it's dolphin porn (everyone looks at their friend). One of the buddies says "WTF is wrong with you" then he facepalms. I was the only one who actually knew what it was and no one believed me until a couple weeks later.

Yeah, Graham is with NHLR still. Of the cross over Champ Car teams, they've been the most successful. I really hope that they can challenge the big two (Penske and Ganassi) this year. It doesn't help the series when only two teams are really competitive. Andretti Autosport has really fallen off over the last couple of years. They've gone from being championship contenders to being best of the rest.

I've always liked Marco, but he's the biggest crybaby on the team, more so than Patrick. He is an exact replica of his father. Just once I want to hear him give an interview where he takes responsibility for his actions on the track rather than blaming it on something else.

This is a pivotal year for the IRL - new CEO and new corporate sponsor. They're going to be getting more exposure this year than they have ever before. With the new aero package and increased power to pass, it's up to the drivers to make this year successful. I can't wait for the season to start!

Hunter-Reay is with Andretti now, but PT does not have a ride yet. How the fuck that happens is beyond me. Give him anything with four wheels and he'll make it competitive.

If Danica thinks she struggled at Daytona, California and Vegas... boy, is she going to have a rough time at New Hampshire! And if I'm not mistaken, she now has to qualify on time because she's so far down in the points. Can't buy her way into this one. :crying:

Good luck, Danica. :yahoo:

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Damn she can drive! Anyone else in that race woulda hit the wall. Just shows her skills from formula 1.

I was trying to figure that out myself.

I know, ask Rey, he's the one to ask, :D he knows everything ..... yes about racing too !
:D :jester:

Rey knows that Danica finished 5 laps down today in the Nationwide/jr. league race, in 30th place, the second to the last car still running on the track and wanted to get NASCAR to black flag a veteran racer who barely touched her and spun her out early in the race when she tried to pinch him to the apron as he was passing her. Rey knows that Danica SUCKS... and not in the good way either. Rey knows that Danica hasn't been able to so much as drive a nail this season (except for a lucky downforce/peddle fest 2nd place at Texas), whether it be in junior league stock cars or those underpowered/over downforced go karts the IRL runs. Rey knows that Danica isn't fit for NASCAR Cup and would have been laughed out of Formula One, had she been able to get GoDaddy Warbucks Parsons to write a big enough check to buy her a seat with that fraudulent USF1 outfit.

What else would you care to know from Reyes Maximus today, little one? My time here is short. How may I enlighten you? :hatsoff:

Danica doesn't suck at racing. She's a slightly above average talent in Indycar, and she's really having an average part-time intro to Nationwide(Busch) racing. The problem is she gets about ten times the publicity she should get.

How am I going to get my hyperbole rolling if you're going to be reasonable?! :D OK, "suck" is a relative term. There's Milka Duno level suck (and yet she's faster in a GT car than I am) and then there's Danica level suck.

One issue is that the current IRL has a relative talent level (team vs. team, driver vs. driver) that is so much lower than it used to be with CART IndyCar. No longer are we attracting mid level and above F1 talent (retired or otherwise) who had resumes that included more than a few W's at some professional level, or even kids who have won major ladder series championships (F3000/GP2, F2, Indy Lights when it was a real series, Atlantcs pretty much defunct now, I believe, etc.). Yeah, my gripe with Danica is her underwhelming performances that tend to get the ESPN shills reaching into their bag of excuses, and trying to keep the GoDaddy fueled DanicaMania at full song.

This pouty faced egomaniac actually thought she could jump straight into Cup a couple of years ago... that's while she was twirling her hair and also considering a move to Formula One (does she take illicit drugs? :dunno:). But as we're now seeing, she's being swallowed up in Nationwide. Can you imagine how badly she'd be doing in Cup? I wish Stewart and Junior hadn't talked her out of that foolishness and just let her do it.

But yes, it's the inordinate amount of attention being given to someone who isn't fit to shine Emerson Fittipaldi's shoes that gets me wound up. But the IRL hitched their wagon to this fraud and so it goes. And their thanks for that foot-shot is the lowest TV rating in the history of the Indy 500 this May. Last year was also a "record", and this year was even lower. I remember the days of "it's a new track record!" Now, the records being set aren't anything that one would want to publicize.

I would take a job bashing Danica. But I enjoy it so much, I'm content to do it for free. :nanner:

OK beeches, you know why I'm here! 30th in the NASCAR Nationwide series race (5 laps down) and 20th in the IRL race (just shy of being a lap down). Yeppers, that's the Danica that I know and love. Two solid races in a row. :thefinger

Keep stinkin' it up, Danica. Cause the worse you are (and the NASCAR experiment is just going to keep getting worse), the closer that I know you'll be to that Playboy shoot that everybody has been predicting for years. :wave2:

Ya got another NASCAR race pretty soon, Dani - remember where the ignition switch is this time, why doncha?!
