What the fuck?! My iPad only plays the iTunes downloaded videos in m4v!

I got me the biggest iPad because I wanted to put my DVDs on it. And now I can't use them.

Does anyone know a good program for windows to convert mp4 or DVDs to m4v? I can't seem to find one. At least not for windows. :crash:

Try this within iTunes:

Step 1: Select the video(s) you want to be iPad-compatible

Step 2: Click the "Advanced" tab at the top of the screen

Step 3: Click "Create iPad/Apple TV Version

Just instal VLC media player. it can play anything

That's because iPads suck.

Should have got something with a Honeycomb platform.

My Samsung Galaxy tab is flawless in its excellence.
Yeah I know. That's why I got me an Android phone instead of this iPhone bitch. I wanted to get the galaxy tab too, but I somehow love ze Apple. I didn't know I can't play any vids on it.

Try this within iTunes:

Step 1: Select the video(s) you want to be iPad-compatible

Step 2: Click the "Advanced" tab at the top of the screen

Step 3: Click "Create iPad/Apple TV Version
But I don't even get the vids into iTunes. :(

Just instal VLC media player. it can play anything

But how do I get the vids onto my iPad without iTunes?

Don't you just love that iPOS?

Any Video Converter... FREE VERSION?

I've used the free version for about four years, converting hundreds of videos from my old phones and whatnot. Then in December, I opted to pay for it, but in my disappointment, the free version is the same, but with a shitty pop-up asking if you'd like to buy it (just click no and convert the next video).

I will try this when I get home from work today.

I have a converter that converts it to "iPad HD", but it just converts it to mpeg4 which doesn't work on iPad. :dunno:

I need to brush up on my Ipad classes, a couple of weeks ago mine froze up and it took me an hour and half to figure out how to restart it.

There is an app called Photo Transfer App - http://www.phototransferapp.com/ - ($2.99 in the App store) that will send/receive photos and videos between a PC and an Apple device.

No conversion though ... :dunno:
Neither does work.

With Any Video it's not possible to convert to M4V. You can choose apple iPad, but that's just mp4 again. Which doesn't work. And the transfer app doesn't convert at all so it can't be saved on my device.

WTF. Who needs a 64gig version then anyway if you can't save your vids on it?! :crash:  Never and iPad again if they don't change that!

I tend to stay away from advancements in technology nowadays. A laptop and flip-open phone is about as hardcore as I allow myself to get.

Yeah, I was going to say, I've never had an issue getting things into iTunes. I've even converted old movies from VHS to DVD, loaded them onto my computer and then put them into iTunes and then onto my iPod Touch. Hell, I've even got some grainy porn movies from the 80's on mine (just to see if I could do it). And believe me, I am NOT a computer whiz kid. There will be glitches with anything. And iTunes is not my favorite piece of software. But I've dealt with much more complicated software than that. Oh yeah, the VLC Player is excellent - I got it about a year ago. But there was some sort of spat and now I don't know if it's still available in the App Store. Oh, not for doing conversions, but if you like music and sometimes hear a song, but don't know the title (but would like to get the song as a download), get Sound Hound. It's probably my favorite, free (non business) app ever!

But I did see a question on the Apple Support Community forum where another person had something similar happen to him (didn't work and then it did work). Not that people on FreeOnes aren't helpful :)D), but the Apple forum will probably get you the answer you're looking for. Apple Support Community

And sure, you could go with some other brand of tablet. But I'd do a comprehensive search and see what the return rates are for the other brands of tablets. And then I'd ask why those return rates are typically much higher (and the satisfactions rates typically lower) than they are for iPads. Get good, objective data, and not just anecdotal stories or opinions. But at the end of the day, you have to get what works for your needs. Don't just go by brand. I've had my iPod Touch 64 gig for almost two years and it's been trouble free. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's the most useful (and easy to use) consumer device that I've bought in many, many years. But now... your mileage may vary.

Good luck!
