Damn. Airport security may have crossed a line...

The argument is that the TSA is going about it incorrectly. They're investing their energy in a slow, cumbersome, needlessly invasive procedure, when they could be using better tools to scan in the first place. Additionally, you shouldn't think about it twice at a nightclub, they don't have the resources or the technology the TSA does. Using technology isn't cheap, thus clubs put bouncers in their place to frisk, whereas the TSA just brings in 30-40 workers at any one point.

Thanks for responding as I RARELY fly(thinking about a flight to ATL soon) & could not help ,but see that there are maybe a dozen damn threads about pat searches:dunno:.I have casually heard Radio personalities screaming & a bit here & there on TV(but I mostly ignore it as it doesn't concern me for the most part)

Not Rhetorical. Could you give me a brief example of these 'better tools' you are speaking of? Technologies?

Well I have heard that the Israelis are The unquestioned best at airport security & the ex Chief Isaac Yeffet says...

" Stop relying on technology. Technology can only help the qualified well trained human being ,but cannot replace him'.

http://www.csnews.com/news/article/full-body-scanners-are-illusion-security

Yeffet goes on to say

"I don't need a scanner(technology)....There is what is called a hand search. We take you to a special room where you are interviewed by experts. If we notice any suspicion we search you from HEAD TO TOE. We don't leave one piece on your body that we do not do a hand search on." Ex Israeli Airport Security Chief Isaac Yeffet

This is coming from the very best at it so I would think that we would be interested in there procedures & they say that technology is VERY flawed:dunno:

Nothing I have heard from these so called OUTRAGED fliers/talking heads makes me believe it's little more than search 'them' not 'us' & 'Do I look like a damn terrorist!' arrogance. And when a plane comes down they will go nuts blaming TSA/The Administartion in charge & everyone under the sun.

Although 'Jihad Jane' was White with Blue eyes/Blonde hair (she looks like one of 'us' but was a foiled terrorist). The American Taliban(Lind?) was a clean cut good old red-blooded American boy(White & looked like 'one of 'us'.

The Nigerian underwear bomber (Black looked like on of 'us'), Richard Reid & the Black guys from Miami who contemplated taking down the Sears Tower in Chicago(They all looked like 'us).

If the best are saying that technology is basically useless why are we so adamant that there is some MAGICAL technology out there?

And I thought they didn't allow racists here... I was on a flight down to london once and there was a middle eastern man on the flight. He was sweating and looked nervous. That doesn't mean he is gonna blow up the plane. I really don't understand the people who think all muslims are terrorists. I remember seeing a video on youtube once of some guy in downtown Manhattan shortly after 9/11 and he was shouting at a muslim charity worker who was helping out at ground zero. I think he was saying she should be killed along with the "rest of them" wtf. Theres plenty of terrorists in this world that aren't muslims.

When was the last time a non-muslim hijacked an airplane? Quit trying to feed us your PC propoganda. The VAST MAJORITY of airplane hijackers are muslims. Don't try to say this isn't the case.

If there was a middle eastern man on my plane who was sweating and looked nervous, you can be sure I would be keeping my eye on him, and I would go up to him and tell him so. I would also point him out to everyone else sitting around him.

As you can see in this wiki page, the correlation between being a muslim and hijacking a plane is not that big. That the major enemies of the US at the present moment come from the middle east, well, that's just temporary. (It might just be chinese in 30 years or so, who knows.)
And even then, correlation is not causality. Other people might hijack planes, therefore security should not overfocus on muslims. Besides being impractical, it's unethical, unliberal and undemocratic.

Finally, the fact that most of the enemies of the US nowadays come the the middle east, that doesn't mean the identity of "enemy of the US" might be held by caucasian, asian or african persons. Research shows that terrorism is activated when people feel unaccepted by society and see it as it's enemy. This proces of radicalization is important, not someone's ethical background.

Just go through the damn sncanner thingy. Christ...problem solved. Are people really this self conscious about their bodies? Pussies.

Yes, people are and their worried about a lot of other things too. That's how the wack-job ACLU assholes came to be.

I understand about the erosion of rights and all that, so maybe I am out of line here, but I guess it really wouldn't cross my mind to get all self-conscious about the shit. Whatever they're doing, they're doing something right, because the fact that there has been no serious shit to go down on an airliner since 9-11 is a minor miracle.

MIT was working on a machine that could scan one of about 100,000 different chemicals people use to make explosives out of, with concentrations as little as 5 parts per billion as early as 1997. A great deal of the technology from 2001 on has been halted, as there's been an increased attention paid to humans investigating really whatever they please. In the current situation, certainly the human element is cumbersome, and slow. Simply using pat downs as a supplement to scanning would suffice if the scanners were more sophisticated, which current technology would permit.

the main issue that gets me about all of the 9/11 reaction is that we have the deaths of about three thousand people controlling our actions while in 2009 over fifteen thousand people were murdered in the u.s., i'm pretty sure any one of us is more likely to end up in the latter statistic rather than the former (or some similar terrorist action)...i'm not saying don't be vigilant or safe but god damn take it down a notch

Just a heads up!! when going to an airport don't wear a belt with a metal buckle!! and if you ever go to Australia, when the customs guy asks if you have a criminal record? DON'T ANSWER ~ Oh i'm sorry i didn't realize it was still compulsory!!! IT DOESN'T GO DOWN WELL!! TRUST ME.
