da vinci vs christians

why are christians so mad with Da Vinci´s Code.

It was the abortionists' fault when New Orleans got wiped out (apparently)
It's the heathens who are to blame for the war on terror (apparently)
It's the black mothers and white fathers having babies together that causes birth defects (apparently)
And my personal favourite: "I really believe that the pagans, and the abortionists, and the feminists, and the gays and the lesbians who are actively trying to make that an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU, People For the American Way, all of them who have tried to secularize America."

And the same people that believe those things believe the Da Vinci Code to be EVIL, (which by the way is a pretty wank novel, and completely underserving of such lengthy debate). Honestly how can these people be pro-freedom of expression and then create such a fuss when people exercise that right?

It all comes down to what you want to believe. In my opinion everything is fixed. I mean who desided wich gospels are legit and wich aren't? And on what grounds? Perhaps because those who are "forbidden" are telling us a story that doesn't fit their plans? Besides none of the legit gospels are the actual ones. They have been written between 50A.C-200A.C And they have been translated from aramaic to greek and latin by some monks who obviously would translate them in a way they pleased, since noone else could read the actual script. Personally i don't believe in the existance of any god. Religions come and go since the time of mankind. But if believing in jesus or, budha ,or allah or whatever you wanna call him makes you a better person then go ahead.
Just don't try to stop me from thinking and having an opinion of my own.

Most Chrisitians don't think this movie is "controversial" ...

Most Christians I know don't think this movie is "controversial."

First off, even in the movie, it was about a specific "sect" of the Catholic Church that is not sponsored or condoned.

Secondly, the thought that Jesus could have had a wife is not "Ungodly" to many Christian dominations -- because their ministers and others can marry too.

Third, some people realize that there could be missing Gospels, different stories, etc... that are told of Jesus and the early Church than those largely established in 3-5 AD.

Lastly, it's just a movie. In fact, Hollywood sometimes trumps up things to be "controversial" just to get more people to see it. It's fiction. It's entertainment.

It's good to be the king...
I plan to watch it later today (just to see what the fuss was all about)....:dunno:

I think Prof Voluptuary has about right.
There's that saying 'There's no such thing as bad publicity'. The production company behind the film must be laughing all the way to the bank...
