Cover songs better than the original

John Lennon - Imagine, cover by A Perfect Circle

Led Zeppelin - No Quarter, cover by Tool

Meshugged cover of Metallica - Ride the Lightning by Morten Müller (Bog Studios)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVDYUSExpis

His channel has a shit ton of other Metallica covers in the same Meshugged style and as far as I'm concerned, all of them fucktons heavier, more brutal and better than the originals.

Mandatory "in before": I will not use video embeds. One reason being that my browser (or computer, as it happens with many browsers) hates threads full of embedded videos, starts draining RAM like a cumshot swallowing world record contestant and trashing the hard drive for the next eternity. Also, you can find the original songs yourself. I see no need to link them separately. Finally, I am aware that I might have committed some extreme form of musical heresy by posting covers of three impossible-to-improve songs and/or artists.

The original is good, but Metallica takes it to a new level.

Great song.
Good to see Columbia Records to finally allow Bob Dylan's songs to be housed at Youtube. Only two "Tangled Up In Blue" (from Blood on The Tracks) and "Subterranean Homesick Blues (from Bringing It All Back Home) were over at Youtube for years. Everything else was pulled and taken down.

Sort of like what happens to King Crimson's music there. The publishing company that owns Peter Sinfied's lyrics, and Robert Fripp and Greg Lake musical compositions controls what gets played. They are a big denier of allowing Youtube to play any King Crimson songs.

By the way, this thread started with Bob Dylan's music. :) -- see my posts from the "early" days ...

This is the only time I would take Crocker over Traffic.
Yes, Dave Mason's version is a bit more melodic and graceful. Joe Cocker's has an uptempo and is a bit of a rocker.

It's similar to listening to the slow "Revolution" (four-four time) on the Beatles White Album vs. the edgy faster version of "Revolution" (six-eight time) on the Hey Jude album ...

For me personally, I've always liked the Hey Jude version of "Revolution" more.
