Convicted Felon Donald Trump’s Second Presidency

America in peril ...

Self-interests and loyalty to Trump has replaced honor, love of country, oath to the constitution, and belief in democracy.
Fear of Trump and his maniacal MAGA supporters, coupled with utter spinelessness, has removed all sense of integrity from
Republican lawmakers, to the point that they're willing to knowingly sign off on corrupt and unqualified appointees to critical cabinet
positions responsible for overseeing our health, welfare, and security.
Sadly, these kiss-ass "suckuplicans" have shown a shameless willingness to throw their country under the bus in order to keep their cushy congressional and senatorial seats.
It's an utter disgrace.

Are we remembering why we kicked Trump out in 2020? Trump got elected in 2024 to ‘fix’ an economy which was humming along. It has taken him less than 30 days to change the tide.
https://finance.yahoo.com/news/us-consumer-sentiment-drops-seven-150000004.html

Consumer confidence is declining; prices are rising: chaos reigns supreme; and hundreds have been deported (I thought it was going to be in the millions by now).

At least he is tackling the real problem: not enough plastic straws in the environment.
Wow, sounds a lot like what's happening here.
Labour get elected to fix things. Consumer confidence is down, prices going up, business confidence dropping like a stone, a promise to deal with illegal migration (no plan) and MP's hoping old non Labour voters die before the next general election.
The only thing we're currently behind on is the non elected twat trying to shut down official government departments.

The amount of "Buy Canadian" sentiment can't be understated right now.

It's so true that "If a restaurant has an American city in it's name, it's probably Canadian".

Also:

"The economy is a disaster because of DEI - Don Jr, Eric and Ivanka"
Huh, so that's why he hates that acronym so much....

Talk about bad optics, there is something particularly heinous [not to mention heartless and inhumane] about having the richest man in the world shut down
a US governmental agency (USAID) that literally feeds some of the poorest of the poor in the world.

Not surprisingly, Trump fired the inspector general responsible for overseeing this agency days after the IG released a report warning of potential spoilage
of some $489 million worth of undistributed food in transit, at ports or in warehouses.

Asked on what authority did the US have the right to assume ownership of the Gaza Strip, a sovereign territory, Trump replied, "US authority".
I suppose it's the same hubris "authority" that would allow the US to absorb Canada, Greenland, and Panama.

Also, Trump threatens to withhold aid from US allies in the Middle East (Egypt and Jordan) if they refuse to absorb Gaza's 2 million Palestinians.
With his threatening/intimidating posture against a multitude of countries, less than 30 days into his presidency, Trump has already turned into
one of the biggest international bullies in modern history. This will inevitably come at a cost.

As our relationships with our allies become increasingly strained during this presidency, our enemies (China, Russia, North Korea, Iran),
who together pose an existential threat to the homeland, will become ever more emboldened.

With 47 months still left in his term, given his radical and reckless nature, it's hard to imagine Trump's second stint as POTUS ending well.
Realistically, if one were to project, it actually has the makings of ending historically [or even epically] bad. Hope I'm wrong.

What did Former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger say about Donald Trump after the January 6, 2021 insurrection? And Mr. Schwarzenegger being a Republican as well. "President Trump is a failed leader. He will go down in history as the worst President ever." And that was at the end of his first administration.

If you didn't see it. Here it is again ....

Do you honestly think Donald Trump is going to be any better this time around?

Don’t tell Trump, but inflation rose during his first month and retail sales declined. Of course the numbers will fluctuate over time (as they do with any President), but this has to sting with all of Trump’s previous hubris.

VP J.D. Vance scolds NATO allies, essentially claiming that banning hate speech in their countries poses a greater threat to Europe than Russia.

Senator Adam Schiff presents a compelling case against Trump appointee Kash Patel becoming FBI Director.
The impending vote once again sees filthy politics at play, likely overriding common sense at the expense of national security.

Donald Trump would say that it's all fake news!

He just watches One America News Network, Fox News and Youtube along with the Cartoon Network -- out of the eleven hours of his constant TV watching - the other hour complaining on Truth Social and Twitter (X) about the Medias Touch, Rachel Maddow, Ari Melber, Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell all of MSNBC. An occasional meeting with a head of state (he accounts for those by reducing his TV viewing time.) The news viewing time is reduced but not the cartoons. He has to have his daily dose of those. "Looney Tunes" and "Popeye and Olive Oyl" and "Woody Woodpecker" and "Johnny Bravo" and "Land of the Lost" and "Mighty Mouse" and "Bullwinkle and Rocky" along with "SpongeBob SquarePants" and "Ren and Stimpy" baby! (y) ... Of course, you need to figure his six hours for sleep, and six hours for playing golf.

Instead of MAGA (Making America Great Again) - his slogan should be WDTDFA (What Does Trump Do For America?) - Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Where are the Trump voters? They have been quiet recently. Their post-election joy-bubble burst?

Curious how the members here feel about this.

I'm kind of mixed. It's an understandable reaction with the Cheeto in charge enacting tariffs that could destroy the Canadian economy for no good reason, and continued insistence of annexation of the country. I'm pretty sure Americans would have the same reaction if any country subjected them to the same treatment (and in fact, the Canadian anthem is being booed at some US games).

That said, I feel many US hockey players, like many Americans in general, don't support what's happening. It can't be a good feeling to hear your anthem booed.
Heck, look at the captain of the Maple Leafs. Do you want your captain to feel like that from the beginning of the game?

Like I said, I'm mixed on this. How about you?

I would not participate, but I understand the sentiment.

Remember the US is trying to stop the 0.2% of our fentanyl which enters through Canada! We probably make more in the US.

Trump quote of the day:

"Ukraine should have never started the war"

Fact: Russia invaded and seized Ukraine's Crimean Peninsula back in 2014, then launched a massive invasion of the Ukraine mainland in 2022.
About 100,000 soldiers have been killed thus far in the conflict.

A peace-loving country, Ukraine's only crime is sharing a border with Russia as a Democracy, and exercising its right as a sovereign nation to chart its own path.

With Trump parroting Putin's absurd lies regarding Zelensky and Ukraine, the US is now on the verge of losing the respect of every major nation in the world,
including Russia, who must be beside themselves witnessing how fractured the NATO alliance has suddenly become.

This country continues to prove the movie Idiocracy correct. It continues to be giant billboard for money over morals and goal post moving. Lack of equality, lack of responsibility and endless hypocrisy.

Putin's "Puppet"...

Clearly awestruck, Trump has tremendous admiration for Putin, as he considers him his idol/mentor.
This explains why since Day 1, he has pathetically [and embarrassingly] capitulated to Putin, even regurgitating his "hero's" absurd lies.

Trump's audacious power quests serve as further evidence that he's basically a Putin wannabe.

Exhibit A: Trump's expansionist fantasies to take Canada, Greenland, Panama, and Gaza were likely borne out of (i.e., inspired by) Putin's bold invasion of Ukraine.
Exhibit B: His push for unilateral control over Federal Government agencies is a blatant power-grab to bring him ever closer to Putin's authoritarian status.
