Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords shot in head

I understand what the Bill or Rights is and what the Second Amendment entails. I understand that you have the right to have a gun and to protect your family but do you need an assault weapon to protect your family? I have a problem with the high capacity magazines that are on the market. The only reason to have 33 bullets loaded in a handgun is to kill alot of people quickly.

You can kill just as many with a semi-automatic (whatever that is)

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.

They're also a blast to shoot. The fact is, if he would have had an ordinary shotgun, with 5 rounds, loaded with 00buckshot, he would have propelled between 45 and 60 .32cal. pellets into that crowd. You wanna take away duck guns too? He could have filled a 20oz. pop bottle with powder, and bb's, and done worse. Quit blaming the guns, and the right to have them, for the actions of a mad man. For every one that does something like this, hundreds of thousands act responsibly...and if you read my post, you noticed I said defend my FREEDOMS...maybe you need reread history, and figure out what else the Second Amendment is for. And again, it has nothing to do with NEED...it's all about the RIGHT to own. I have no need, or desire to explain what I want a certain type of gun for...unless or until I become a criminal. The presumption of innocence is still the rule in this country.

I'm putting this here as I thought starting a new thread could be okay, but this is part of this whole issue.

Sorry, I believe in the freedom to assemle, but not protesting funerals - especially protesting an innocent girls death:

Plus:
State lawmakers push law to block Tucson funeral protests

I just heard on CNN that Gifford's is breathing on her own.

:dito:
All high capacity magazines that are on the market need to be banned in this Nation... It's not necessary...

Oh, please. Her political career ended long ago, she's a circus at best. But of course, there's always AN AGENDA BY THE LIBERAL MEDBLLLLLLLLLLEH. shut up.

Get stuffed.

The left is doing everything it can to keep this tragedy as politicized as possible. Not 12 hours after the even the Dupnik decides to blather about right wingers spreading hate.

Next we'll have leftist asshats trying to punish law abiding citizens from owning firearms, as well as restricting the freedom of speech.

What's next lefties? Standard issue kicking in our doors?

What kind of "human being" protests a goddamned funeral??!

Apparently Arizona is rushing to pass through some legislation banning protests at funerals. Although this can stop them we don't want them thinking they can change laws through their vile actions so I think Arizona needs to think carefully about this. :dunno:

Arizona should let them do it so that maybe there will be a copycat that will do the world some good this time and mow these cunts down in one shot!

I just wasted a 1/2 hr. of my life researching these cunts and some of the funerals they protested and what their "messages" are.....well, lets just say these people don't deserve to breathe oxygen!!

If you can believe it, they originally wanted to protest the 9 yr old girl's funeral....

This will cost Arizona and the Federal government millions and the SCotUS will ultimately rule in favor of the WBC.

So, for all the loud mouth, long distance rubber neckers, what do you want? Vigilantes who dictate what type of speech is acceptable or assholes who exploit the freedom to offend?

Then tell the whiny little tree hugging Socialists to quit threatening us with disarmament, and tighter restrictions.

OK, then show me any legislation within the last 110 years that threatens to disarm you. Hell, I'll even give you a head start:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_federal_legislation,_1901-2001
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_federal_legislation,_2001-present
I counted five gun laws total (I could have missed some, so correct me, please). Unless you are a felon, are they of any concern to you?

How about showing me any proposed legislation which is threatening to disarm you since the shootings? I've seen one - which restricts the clip size - which had been restricted until 2004. Were your guns taken away then?

How about on the state level? Are them thar lubrals taking away your right to bear arms on the state level?
If so, find it for me. Perhaps I missed some:

Once again, if the right spent as much time on the education of firearm safety as they did about ghosts, goblins and other phantoms taking away their guns. Stop living in fear of your own damn shadows.

Does anyone really believe the Founders considered universal ownership of military weaponry, outside the context of a National Guard unit or other "well-regulated militia," to be a human right as fundamental to liberty and conscience as the freedoms of speech and religion?

I hate to say it, but, yeah.
Let them protest. Their protests actually spread more negativity about their little group than anything anyone else can say about them. They do have a Constitutional freedom of speech, no matter how hateful or vile it is.
However, the more they speak, they more uneducated and backwards they sound. And you can bet your ass that this does chew their insides up, no matter how much they might deny it.
So, go ahead, let them protest.

I have a question for all the Americans on the board. I don't know much about the Constitution, but has there ever been any serious conversation down there about creating an amendment to include a limitations clause that allows the government to limit constitutional rights? Here in Canada, the government has used that to stop the kind of thing that WBC always does, and while freedom of speech is pretty cool, this kind of stuff simply should not be tolerated.

Well nobody..or relatively nobody is "taking" guns. But cities and counties across the country have banned non-grandfathered ownership in several degrees. So much so that the Supreme Court ruled on it twice during the last two tears; striking down bans in DC and Chicago.

Cities like Columbus and Cincinnati tried to ban semi-auto handguns. Cities such as NYC have denied law abiding citizens the right to own firearms while granting affluent supporters the right to carry. In Manhattan, William F Buckley was refused the right to continue carrying a concealed firearm while Howard Stern, David Letterman and others were not.

There are many stories to cite, but the general synopsis is that nobody is actively trying to take existing guns, but there are a great many who try to legislate away that ability.
