You never came across specifically as a man. In fact, and this is true for everybody in this forum, I never ask myself the question if he/she (?) is a man or a woman.
Maybe it is simply prejudices but I probably takes for granted that all members of the forum are men. Or maybe I just don't care about that.
So it is less a confusion than a lack of je-ne-sais-quoi

I often confuse Dr.Motorcity and Facetious do the clarity of both their posts, and I think you can listen to them both on AM radio late at night.
