Sweet...how often do You Miss it?
Elwood.. this is exactly what it looked like.
When I was in high school, I had a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner.
I don't know if all this is true or to what degree. When I was in high school I dropped a lot of acid. I kinda persuaded a friend of mine to try it, which he did. Fast forward a couple years past HS, and I heard he was a junkie, constantly tripping in his shitty apt., somewhere around Jefferson Ave, St. Louis (the worst neighborhood in St. Louis). Without going on with half-remembered details, I have always felt shitty about my complicity in this.
I also wounded a rabbit with a BB gun once. He got underground before I could react at all, but I nailed him pretty hard on the hindquarter and he had a painful future coming up. 12 or 13 years old, and I still feel bad about it. "World-Class Schmuck" is a term I use to describe myself on this one.
When I was younger we used to tie 1oz fishing sinkers to the spin brushes in auto wash. Good timesWhen I was in high school, I had a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner. I had heard that a particular car wash was faulty, and if you hit the money box hard enough it would pop open. (car washes were only 50 cents back then).
Anyway, one Friday evening I stopped inside the wash bay and hit the box that you deposited the quarters into It did indeed swing open. Unfortunately, the jack-ass that told me about it failed to say an extremely LOUD honking noise would sound off. I grabbed all the quarters it had and hopped into my car and hauled ass. When I finally got far enough away I counted up my "haul". Something like seven dollars, lol.
That was 38 years ago. To this day I feel terrible about that incident. I just wish I would have gone back later and returned the money to the owner. :crying: Shortly there after I joined the Navy.
Anyone else got a confession that they would like to get off their chest?
Sounds like a prime candidate for an ass fuck. Go hard and raw!!!When I was 19 my girlfriend at the time had this best friend she had grown up with since childhood. Her bff and I couldn't stand each other to say the least. One night, as a favor, I drove her home because I'm a good guy. Engaging in small talk along the way trying not to be awkward, we got to her house and kept talking in the car. At one point I said "this is weird." And she replied "why, we're not doing anything?"
Moments later, we were making out and my finger was in her pussy. We snapped back to our senses and that's as far as it got.
Nothing came of it afterwards but I've been racked with overwhelming guilt about it since, until I got it off my chest here. Gawd, I hated her.
Thanks.
I also had a Road Runner when I was in high school. But mine was the "boat body" 1971 (I was one year late to the game). I wanted one like Sam had, but with a 4 speed, or a '70s model 'Cuda or Dodge Challenger - those cars were like Ferraris to me. Where I grew up, Mopars were "exotic". All the Challengers, Cudas and square body Road Runners and Chargers were out of my price range back then (about $600 max ), so I settled for the '71 boat with a 383 Magnum 4 barrel and an automatic 727 Torqueflite on the tree. It was a beast of a car in a straight line. But it wouldn't corner or stop worth crap - it seemed like a death trap to me. I sold it right before I went off to college.
The fastest I've ever been a passenger in a car - so far - was 140 mph in a 1970 Road Runner with a 383 and a pistol-grip 4-speed....and no front shocks.
At least, my friend said it was a 383, but when I got a job working with the guy he bought it from, I discovered (and later verified) that it was in fact a 440 with a wiped cam...that's why he sold it for $1200.00 (in the late '80s).
When I was 18 I had the chance to buy a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS for 2000 bucks. It was metallic brown with matching factory metallic brown wheels and looked mint. I begged my mother to loan me the money and she wouldn't budge. This was one odd thing about Sammy: there were those occasions when he'd reveal something about himself that I found interesting and I'd want to engage him in conversation... course, then he'd go back to acting like an unhinged, paranoid, braggart of a jackass.

The guy who bought it wrecked it a few months after buying it, while playing chicken with a member of his family (nice enough guy, but he was redneck to the core). He was killed and I believe the cousin driving the other car was severely injured. I think his mom was in the other car too - not sure about all the details.
No confessions, except maybe that there were times when I'd have enjoyed conversing with ol' Sammy.
And the funny thing is, had I kept that car and maintained it, it would have been worth more than the last Jaguar that I owned. Who'd a thunk it? :dunno:
Was [NOBABE]the body[/NOBABE] still in decent shape? I wonder what kind of money it would go for today if it hadn't been cut up and modded too badly?
Sorry for rudely intersecting myself into your conversation, but for me, it was 135 in a 1977 Trans Am, without a stock motor. It belonged to a friend, but, I was driving it....we traded vehicles for the day. It was a nice car, but another fri3nd has the same year, way low miles, and bone stock, adult owned type of investment type car. Anyway, it's definitely a trip driving that fast. I did 103 on my old Harley...which was REALLY fast for an old shovel head, but i built the snot out of that scooter. The best I can claim in a truck, is almost 80 in a day cab 18 Wheeler. I would like to go over 100 in a semi, just once to see how freaky it is.
As far as the Road Runner goes, the one muscle car I would get, if only one was the way it had to be, would be a 1969 Super Bee....which was basically the Roadrunner, with thar package. Has to be a 440/6 pack, with a 4 speed...because the wife can't drive a stick...and the color choice would be Lime green, with a flat black hood, or all black, or Plum Crazy purple.
Anyway, that's my little interuption into your conversation.

Needless to say it would be worth a king's ransom today.
