Concepts and tolerances of what is fat have changed a lot.

Yes Republicans deregulated and passed laws allowing capitalist banks to do as they please.

You might want to take a looksee at Senators Dod and Frank and see how they screwed things up.

So....it's the fat politicians that have made obesity the national norm???

My Penis Is Dancing!
Ranches now have to super size horses and saddles to accommodate fat people.
I hope these companies are making fat people pay more for the extra steps these companies have to take to coddle to them, rather than passing the extra costs to healthy people. If not, then fat people are the ultimate socialists.

This guy was considered so fat in 1885, that he was in a freak show. Seriously, he was featured in a travelling circus as a freak because he was so fat.

Currently, people shaped like him are called "Americans."
(Yeah, yeah, it's a stupid blanket statement. Start flaming, bitches.)

That guy is in better shape than 99% of Fox News Watchers.

Okay...I'll give you the break down:

Food and Consumption (% of diet) vs. Government Subsidy (% of fund)

Meat/Dairy -- 25% vs. 63%
Processed Foods -- 63% vs. ~35%
Fruits, Veggies, Legumes -- 12% vs. 2%

88% of consumed foods are supported by 98% of the total gov't subsidy funds.
88% of consumed foods are total crap.

The USDA paid over $12 billion (2009) to subsidies these crops (in order of subsidized dollars):

Corn, Wheat, Soybeans, Rice, Beer, Milk, Beef, Peanut butter, Sunflower oil.

Weird. Not one fucking fruit or vegetable on that list!

The USDA says fruits/veggies should comprise 50% of the american diet.
Yet...the very same gov't allocates a mere 2% of its subsidies to the industry???
Perhaps it's because americans are only consuming a 1/4 of what they "should" be.

The USDA even subsidizes TOBACCO -- a product which does nothing but KILL its consumers -- but no help for the healthy fruit or veggie farmer!
Good thing CORN got a $3.5 billion boost last year! LOL!!!

ObAma says obesity is the #1 health problem in the US, but mcmericans will continually continue to get more and more obese as long as the gov't dispenses your tax dollars in such a blatant contradictory manner.

From the USDA website:

Is corn a grain or a vegetable?

...fresh corn is considered a starchy vegetable and (milled) dried corn (e.g., cornmeal, tortillas) is considered a [REFINED!] grain.

USDA Dietary Recommendations:

Starchy Vegetables (fresh corn) = 4% of daily diet

Refined Grain (dried corn) = 12% of daily diet (maximum)

So...the USDA states corn should consume no more than 16% of a person's daily diet...yet corn is the most heavily subsidized crop in the country!?!?

LOL!!!

I say fat people can blame the government for at least 50% of their overweightiness.

I'm sorry, but while you make good points, and your data is great, I must take issue with the quoted statement. I don't overeat this ingredient, and it is very easy for me to avoid it. It takes little effort to find grass-fed cow, free range chicken, and on and on I can go.

If you want to blame the government because you're fat, it is a cop out. Eat better. You can do it. Don't think you can afford it? I'm willing to bet there's a community garden in which you could grow your own veggies. Learn how to can/freeze or whatever. Everyone can eat better. It's a decision. And, if enough people make the decision, the government subsidies will eventually change.

Easier said than done.

But we could go on forever about this...
