comment on posts

perhaps its not possible to do, or maybe its just not that great of an idea, but i was thinking today that i would really enjoy being able to comment on a post without having to quote it and write a post of my own. like, you read a post, want to say something small in response to it, so you press a "comment" button, and it allows you to write a brief, limited comment that appears at the bottom of the post, saying something like "comment from belfastsixpack: yadda, yadda, yadda." i think this idea would limit useless, pointless posts, and the hijacking of threads just because someone brings up an off-topic point in response to a post.

If you want to comment on someones post, just use the rep button.

No one really gives a crap about rep score these days, so I just use the feature as a mini PM, and I know many other members do to. But obviously this won't show up at the bottom of the post.
