Coffee Refills At Restaurants

Do you prefer a coffee refill when your cup is completely empty or would you rather have the waitress top it off whenever she passes by?

For me, I wait until it's empty so I can have the exact amount of cream and sugars I want. I would guess that if you like your coffee black you would raise your hand for number b. For that reason I did not put up a poll. Forgive me or You're welcome.

I prefer to have mine refilled when it's almost empty. That way, I can pile on a shitton of cream and sugar.

I take mine black, so why not top it off, and make it hot.

In Germany, refills are almost unheard of, only in a few restaurants.

But I like my refill when the cup is empty.

I'll never ask for more coffee because the restraunt prices are expensive and I'm stingy.

In the states, you buy 1 cup and get unlimited refills. It's not like Europe where it's per cup.

Depends on the frequency the pot comes around. One establishment I frequent usually has four waitresses on duty, and they are constantly carrying the coffee pot around the dining room. I don't want topped off every five minutes. I drink it black so keeping the balance between a little coffee in my sugar and cream isn't an issue. Pay by the cup in Europe. Everywhere is Starbucks over there, innit? No ice in soft drinks, either I would imagine. Weirdos.

Yes, it's pay-per-cup here, at least in most of Germany, though there are new franchises around that have the refill option.

Starbucks is popular, but there are WAY more classic cafés

And of course you get ice in cold drinks, that is sheer profitability 101

I should have clarified that I meant the Starbucks business model, not the actual franchise. We used to have a biergarten nearby, but they offered free refills on anything non-alcoholic. Great pickles, btw, Hengstenberg, I think, and the pickled Herring was awesome, too.

Ah I see. Yes, the concept of coffee-to-go, especially with every perverse flavoring the godly black stuff, is everywhere here. I like a good coffee, and I take it with a sip of milk rather than cream

Do people often try to bring some thermos bottles and smuggle out some free coffee for later usage?

When I lived in Austin I would often eat breakfast at the Abbey Road on the south side. I really liked their coffee and got frequent refills. I remember the waitress saying, "All these people sippin' on their cups when you be drankin'." Great migas and pancakes in that place too.

In restaurants and fast food places, there's no self serve coffee (I can remember when the McDonalds I worked at took over the Walmart McD's down the road, we put the coffee out in the lobby and people did that! The seniors were the worst with their .50 coffee).

In gas stations, the hospital, and places where there's a coffee in the lobby for customers, it's a machine with the different options. You put your cup down, put money in (if it's not free), and press what you want. Usually there's nasty black coffee and cappuccino options.

The only place I've seen that doesn't regulate the coffee is the grocery stores. Some of the groceries have complimentary coffee and you see 4 year olds walking around with a cup, and I've seen some old people bring in their own big thermo cup and stand there for 30 minutes while it spits out a shot at a time because it's free. It's nasty, so I really don't give a crap but it's funny.

Those sound kind of like the money saving things I could learn from Uncle Scrooge...

I HATE COFFEE

I really Hate Coffee

I am addicted to diet pepsi and just recently decided diet coke is nasty.
I wonder if they changed it a couple of years ago.

Workers would leave coffee around and I would spill it while working with boxes.

I get chest pains from coffee-I wonder if heated caffeine is more potent.

I think its unfair to not refill pop and refill coffee free.

My wife drinks coffee straight out of the pot, I didn't really have a coffee habit before we got married. We usually run through three pots of coffee before 10am. I just had my fourth cup since noon. I drink a lot of coffee and find people that don't drink coffee suspicious.

:suspicious:

The chest pains mean, the caffeine is working..........

I drove a truck for almost 30 years...do the coffee math.
