This movie should be number 1. I would be shocked if anything beat it, way too much advertising and it looks pretty damn good.

I can't wait but I'm going to the 2D version. I loved the original and it's what started my obsession with mythology. I think this is a movie that needed a remake considering that they used stop-motion effects and it looks like this new one will do the original justice. I like that they're not doing a straight port of the original story but adding new story elements like Zeus vs Hades. The only thing is I haven't seen Athena's owl Bubo (or rather the golden copy of Athena's owl), I loved that owl.

Looks like it's gonna be cool, I will surely see it. The "old" movie was real great but a new version with more action and better effcts could be amazing if the story is kept as it was...

Unlike most remakes because of the nature of this movie I think it's one of the rare kind that can actually benefit a lot from a remake made with modern advanced technology.

looks like another typical Hollywood attempt to replace CGI and 3D with acting, plot, setting, etc.

And not only that, they couldn't even come up with an original premise.

It's not even the summer blockbusters and already there's a bombardment of flicks lacking any kind of intellectual or emotional engagement whatsoever.

I hope it's good.....I still love watching the original....it's campy and dated, but in my opinion, it will be tough to beat.

So we'll see.

I'm going BUST here because every promo for the film I've seen it looks nothing more than a tailor made ready-to-be-released video game :o

The original is a classic film. The typical American movie goer will have no idea that this is based on Greek Mythology.

I loved the Medusa from the original....really creepy!

Rey C.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.

I didn't see the original. When was it made? But the main reason I hated "300" was because it was basically a cartoon made for people who've never read a history book. I hated "Troy" too... not quite as much as "300", but for the same reason (though my gal pal liked it because she's got a thing for Brad Pitt).

If this is going to be a fun, action film, that follows the basic mythology, I think I'd like to see it. If it's just another video game type story that happens to use the names of the gods, I'll pass.

I think you're giving yourself a bit of undue credit there. A) the mythology in CotT was half Hollywood bullshit rearranged to fit the rather generic damsel in distress plot. B) I think "typical Americans" understand that a Greek mythology movie featuring Perseus, Medusa and the Olympian pantheon is based on Greek mythology.

1981.

I hated Troy, but 300 was OK I guess. Only because it wasn't supposed to be historically accurate. It was based on Frank Miller's stylish graphic novel.

It'd kind of be like a Revolutionary War movie where a buff George Washington goes around scalping redcoats with a tomahawk-bayonet affixed to flint lock that never fails to miss its mark. It might even be fun if you know not to take it seriously or literally.

I'm just surprised that The History Channel didn't run its Clash of the Gods series during opening week of CotT. They made an entire 300-themed documentary about Leonidas and Thermopylae when 300 came out.

Anyway, according to this, there may be a lot more remakes and re-imaginations.

Projects in the early stages include at least two Arthurian tales, Excalibur and Pendragon; a version of Paradise Lost; Young Caesar (a working title), based on Conn Iggulden's four-volume history; Odysseus and Hercules, both about Greek strongmen; a 3-DArabian Nights; and a possible update of Jason and the Argonauts. Mel Gibson, no slacker when it comes to valiant blood-letting, recently told the Los Angeles Times of his efforts to achieve his adolescent dream of directing a Viking epic. His choice of star: Leonardo DiCaprio.

Correct. I saw it at the cinema with my papa.

Never got that chance I'm afraid. But I remember seeing it on the TV when I was young and really enjoying it. That along with Jason and the Argonauts, another movie I hear the great Hollywood feels is in need of a remake.

You can pick up the DVD for about $7 on Amazon. If anybody's interested.

Who else has seen it?

I watched it last night and was expecting it to be crap. My assumption was correct. The story seemed choppy and it was hard to feel sympathetic towards any of the characters. I thought, as always, the idea of just trying to sell the movie on the idea of cramming as much cgi effects was horrible...and actually in some cases just down right cheesy. I was also disappointed with Medusa. I was half way expecting this scary looking creature, but instead we got some kind of cgi chick that looked kind of like a sexy anime character. It's too bad because it's a cool story and it deserved a lot better than this. On the plus side, I now want to see the original again. I haven't seen it since a child but I remember it being a lot better than this shit.

Fuck you again, Hollywood.
