Christine O'Donnell Suggests That God Wants Her to Be Elected

Fox News cued Teabaggers into referring to Obama as the Messiah but I have noticed that some extremist right wing politicians are the one's who tend to have Messianic complexes more often than liberal politicians while on the campaign trail

In an interview with the conservative Christian Broadcasting Network, Delaware GOP Senate candidate Christine O’Donnell suggested that the almighty has “strengthen[ed] and empower[ed]” her campaign so that she can be around to filibuster during the lame duck session

She is really really funny and entertaining, but then you remember she is the nominee of one of the 2 major parties for a senate seat and the laughter is somewhat stifled.

The republicans are really being pulled to a wing nut right wing extremism that in the long run will make them a fringe party untill they turn it around.

She's a candidate. And a candidate on either side will say anything to get elected. We've seen that many times.

Change, yes we can!

Agreed,I'm just not convinced that portraying yourself as gods candidate is a message that will get her elected in the state just south of my own (Delaware),maybe in the deep south that might work but not up here.

Then for fuck's sake let her do it. She's off her damn rocker anyway. It's probably for the best if she's not elected.

Well of course she does. I mean it's not that surprising is it? She's a fundamentalist Christian, these people believe God takes a personal interest in each and every one of her lives down the the minutest detail.

Where God gets the time to look after these people I don't know. Maybe he has a nanny or two....

Why are a bunch of liberal atheists complaining about what a Christian says about God?? You don't believe He even exists anyway, so what difference does it make? The only people who are going to be swayed by her saying this were already going to vote for her anyway.

This is yet another instance of people being hyper sensitive to any slight.

I think alot of people, even many beleiving christians will take pause at someone as extreme as O'Donnell and be put off by comments such as she has made. Her rhetoric may go over well with the republican base, but in a general election I am predicting she gets little support from independents and moderates, and will suffer a crushing defeat.

Is Mega your next door neighbor, twin sister, alter ego or one in the same ? :1orglaugh
fyi - You two use the exact same verbiage. :2 cents: :D

Back on point - Anybody but Chris Coons, the self admitted ''bearded marxist''! even a walk on no name challenger will do! The lesser of two evils is the one who discourages government dependency and it sure ain't Coons.

Exactly. Is the pure, unadulterated ignorance and kookiness of lame, simple-minded politicians entertaining and undeniably hysterical? Yes. But, the thought of these people actually being a part of the machine that runs our country is fucking frightening.

The reason atheists (as well as many believers) care is because she will make policy based on her belief that God has chosen her to do so.

Just as George Bush believed God wanted him to invade Iraq.

These types of religionists, while generally harmless as members of greater society, can be dangerously delusional leaders.

Crazy - bear in mind there is a radical difference between leaders who are humble before God (Abraham Lincoln) and those who claim ownership of God (Bush, Palin, O'Donnell etc) and perhaps you will understand why so many people are wary of the latter.

Seriously, there's no doubt that the majority of sane, rational and forward thinking Americans and the citizens of our planet would not like to witness the most powerful militaristic country in the whole world being led by a lunatic Messianic fringe cult of xenophobic politicians who like George W. Bush would take us from the Age of the Jetsons backwards to the Age of the Flinstones

You would think that an omnipotent and omniscient being would do a better job than they way it is running that cluster fuck of an election. The least it could have done was burn a couple of tapes here and there. I mean, it can burn a bush, but it can't burn a fucking disk with her talking about mice?
