Chris Hansen Caught

I think some people need to go back to law school for a refresher course on entrapment (ohhhh, you never went to law school? My bad! How did I not realize that FACT? Ha ha ha!). Sorry, law enforcement may provide you the opportunity to commit a crime (lead you to water if you will)...they just can not engage in egregious behavior to cause you to actually commit it (make you drink if you will). The case of the Assistant DA in Texas was a bit different.....as they went to his house when he did not actually go to the house for the meet (by tracing his IP address). However, in most every case, they "predators" not only engaged in the behavior online.....BUT, they also actually took the step to go to the place for an in person "meeting"! Come on....by legal definition....that IS NOT entrapment!!!! Soooo, in the name of intellectual honesty.....stop saying it is....especially when, either you are clueless as to what you are talking about....or you are intentionally trying to be dishonest in an effort to get a response from those who know what's what. By the way.....I took courses in Constitutional Law in college (Penn State).....and I got A's in ALL of my law courses....so take what I say for what it is.

I would point out that they found lots of porn, including child pornography on the computers of the Asst. DA in Texas who killed himeself.....so let's not pretend that the guys who got caught (they cancelled future productions of the show btw) aren't the creeps that they are. It is cheesy...sensationalized tv....and basically garbage? OF COURSE! Did law enforcement handle the issue with the Asst. DA in Texas that killed himself just for limelight, attention, and in an attempt to sensationalize it? OF COURSE again. BUT, let's not lose sight of the fact as to who the REAL bad guys are in those stings! Fortunately there wasn't actually a child at the house when the creeps got there.....because we know what would have happened if it weren't a sting and there was a real CHILD involved! Think about that!

Further, even to play devil's advocate and assume that they (The Perverted Justice decoys) instigated the contact online (of course the creep had to make the effort to actually go to the house on their own), nobody made them engage in the online conversation. I mean, what would any of us do if we were in a chat room and we got a PM from someone claiming to be a 13-14 yr old girl and the girl started making sexual comments? Any NORMAL adult male would put them on ignore right from the get go. Then again I said NORMAL!

Bottom line....for those who are ignorant enough of the law to believe it is entrapment.....I've got a few words of advice for you: DON'T COMMIT A FUCKING CRIME!!!!!! Geeees!!!! If you don't do the crime....then you don't have to do the time! DUH!!!!! Nobody MAKES you COMMIT the CRIME!!!! And in cases where the behavior is egregious on the part of law enforcement....and yes that does happen too....then there is often a finding of entrapment & the charges are dropped. But, like I said, simply providing someone with an OPPORTUNITY to engage in CRIMINAL behavior......IS NOT entrapment!
True enough, but why is this a TV show? Since when should TV make the news rather than report the news?!? Why do we have reality shows like this?!?

I guess this means no more entrapment theater? Good.

Seriously, fuck this guy, I'd bet a good number of those guys wouldn't have ever done anything without that show. It's not like they weren't ever around kids. But pedophiles, or perceived pedophiles make for easy targets, nobody wants to defend.
And then to put that shit on tv?

To be honest, because that type of garbage sells in the States anyway. Now, though they don't state this as the reason why, after the Asst. D.A. in Texas killed himself, they pulled the plug on "To Catch a Predator" (though they show re-runs on MSNBC on the weekends). Sadly, this brand/type of sensationalized tabloid journalism is what sells. Most of these "reality" shows serve no other purpose (though this one at least took creeps off the street and put them where they belong) than to pervert the minds of the viewer as to how people REALLY do and are supposed to act....and what REALLY is acceptable behavior. Though this show was sensationalized...it's hardly the worst from the so-called "reality" tv genre. I see sooooo many shows on tv today that claim to be "reality," but they are sooooo poorly and obviously staged that it's not even funny. Sad thing is the I believe too few of the viewers actually get that FACT! I honestly believe that it helps to contribute to the growing incivility that exists in the States anyway. :2 cents:

I could go for a woman 20 years younger than me.... :D

(I'm 38 so she'd be 18 AND legal age of consent )

I never did quite get the legalities with the show....the predator is talking to someome of legal age pretending to be a minor, the guy shows up at a house where a 'mior' resides but that person is really of legal age. No real minors are in any way a part of the operation and the whole crime is " what if this person was really a minor..." . Not that I dont believe those people are real scum and deserve to be put away for life, I dont see how they can do it that way.

Basically, without getting into legalese & keeping it simple...they charge them with criminal solicitation of a minor for sex. Since they believed the person they were soliciting was a minor & they actually go to the house for the meeting...they are able to prove intent. They aren't actually charged with statutory rape or anything...which they would be charged with if there were a real child and sexual activity involved. With the criminal solicitation...all they have to prove is intent...AND......for that, like I said....all they have to prove is that the suspect solicited someone who claimed to be underage.....they don't even have to prove that the suspect actually believed the person was underage or not. On the other hand, if in some freaky episode....one the predators actually had sex with one of the decoys.....they could not then be charged with statutory rape.....as the decoy was in fact over the age of consent. HOWEVER....they could still be charged with criminal solicitation of a minor....for the reasons I already mentioned. Of course laws vary by state....and I only really know PA (mainly) & LA law.....but that pretty much sums it up regardless of the State.

Bottom line....if they claim they are underage......don't mess with them!!!! Should go without saying! :2 cents:

Pedophiles deserve the death penalty in my opinion.

It is ironic that Hansen was caught like this, but Hell, I've seen Weiner's wiener.

Hey, pedophiles who are rejoicing about Hansen getting a taste of his own medicine: Sit down. You're still pedophiles. He wins.

Because entrapment is not legal.

Pedophiles deserve the death penalty in my opinion.

I agree, as long as they are caught lawfully. Weiner...:eeew:

It shows he is a hypocrite.

S'cuse me!?

I don't see the problem here. Chris Hansen's show caught pervert pedophiles. Chris was caught cheating on his wife with an adult. Sorry you lose.

Look up entrapment bro, also profiting on the misery of others.
And for the record I wouldn't care if he were just some guy that wasn't the best husband.
But because of what he did and the way he did it, I can't stand the guy. I do a little dance.
