I'm on broadband as well, but I still suffer long load times for threads where members with several MB sigs have posted.:dunno:

Same here, but I just accept it! My computer is about 3 years old now. Might have something to do with it!

If the sigs do get the go ahead to be larger, and you are worried that they will make your computer lag horribly, can't you just disable your computer from showing the sigs?

I know you want to see the works of art, but what is more important to you, a fast computer or being able to see the signatures?

Actually I don't really get all that much lag anymore. Only sometimes when scrolling past an animated sig, but not the kind of long load times that I used to. But I've also noticed that some new hosting sites seem to be used now, so I still wonder if the problems could have had something to do with that.

And I can't see why many people with resonable connections should disable sigs, because some members want crazy animated sigs.

Although, I don't expect a change to avy's, and have a little expectations in any addition to the sig sizes. :2 cents:

50mb sigs hmmm...I like to see where they'd host that. As the biggest host site I know is 3mb.

Your problem will still be down to your own connection actually. Broadband still even has lag at times. It's because of the amount of people online in your area. It still has to go through a connection box and this has limits like most things. The more using it, the slower it becomes.

Yeah the 50 mb was really just some random number. I haven't got much idea of what it would take to make a sig 50 mb or where you'd host it. What I've been thinking, is just that I've seen sigs of over 3 mb, and I believe also over 5 mb here. Seeing as how people could get more creative with an increased sig height, I just see the possibility of some very byte-heavy sigs. I'm assuming that average byte size will go up, and that we may even begin to see sigs that could be like 7+ mb.

and for whatever reasons that broadband may have it's limitations and may not be lag free, it's still an issue to do with huge sigs. I haven't experienced such lag and load times here besides when some huge animated sigs where in a thread. I could see at the bottom of my browser window what hadn't loaded completely. The name of the hosting site as well as the sig name was clearly visible.

If you raise the sig height, you would have to raise the avatar height or it will look funny.

I think I'm starting to regret it now KFD. All I asked is it possible and now everyone wants different things. Then the avatars came into it which I have no problem with.

Well, you always have AS to show off your bigger creations at least. Good to get the idea out there and discussed though. No harm in that. I'm sure all regular message board goers and sig makers that pass through here have been staring at that 100 height limit with hope of change. Might even bring in more members if it does. Who knows..
