Change of sig max size.

From 575x100 to 400x200. As I've just said on the Test Area IV thread. I find hard to do sigs in the size limits as it is. But by knocking off 175 in the length and adding 100 to the height would really open up new horizons to the creative members here.

So my suggestion is...

Can we have a new signature size of 400x200 please.

I totally agree! I would love to have a lil' more height added to the size of our signatures...it would make things much easier in the design process!

Hmm, I don't really know. Surely I wouldn't mind a little more space to work with, but I do think that it may be a rather drastic change here. I'm used to the size limits here now, and doubling the height would be a major change to the whole look of threads here, while the length reduction is hardly something I'll notice.

Alternatively, I'll suggest that there is set a total limit to your amount of space in your sig. This could then be larger than 575x100. This is simply because of how many members include text as well, making their sig much higher than the 100 limit. This might just as well be used for a bigger pic, but not both.

And can we have a limit on the byte size of sigs as well? This is something I'd like to see no matter if the sig size is increased or not. When sigs go into a couple of MBs, I've experienced that threads load slowly, and when I begin reading comments before all sigs are fully loaded, the page will suddenly jump to the latest post when the last sig is finally loaded, forcing me to scroll up again looking for where I was reading.

The idea of changing the limits to 400X200 or any type of trading height for width change isn't so good. It will immediately mean that everyone with a sig is 1) breaking the new rule 2) will be "forced" to change or modify their sig even if they didn't want to do so. It is also a lot of work, because after a grace period, mods will have to change every sig from every member who no longer posts...

Byte size limits are outside out our control as they are not hosted here.

We'll see, maybe adding some height will be possible. (I typed "maybe".)

I personally like the sig limits. It's unique in comparison to the many forums that allow radical sizes and allowances. I also agree with BNF, that it sounds like it'd be a pain making sure everyone removed their old sig.

You realize this isn't mandatory right?

Just maximum size limit, but if ya got a siggy that 575x100 you can keep it that size.
If it's 320x90 fine too.

I would appreciate the height limit 150, but concerning the width reduced, I think it would cause a lot of problems with the current signatures, as there are many that exceed 400 (including mine). It would probably become a nightmare to the moderators.

I don't care what they do with the length. Or really the height, so long as there is some kind of increase. 100 is to restricting! 150 or 200 either way works for me!

I realize there are bandwidth restrictions and such, that freeones needs to stay within, but reducing length and adding height, seems that it would equal out!

How's this. We could set it up so you have your choice between 575x100 OR 400x200 or whatever other size. Maybe if we give the members total freedom over sig size. Yet with limits! For example 575x100 = 57,500 total pixels. So you could set the sig limit at that! The limit could be, for simplicity sake, 55,000 total pixels! However you want to break it up! 550x100 or 500x150 or 400x250, my math may be a bit off, but you get the idea! List the different options for sig size.

Given that kind of creative freedom, I for one could make some killer sigs and the sig artists here...Doc, UT, etc...would make some crazy ass sigs!

people might think that 50 pixels won't do much but it help alot.

better quality with pictures, don't have to leave out details,,, i could go on forever!

Some extra height if possible would be nice.

If they don't post anymore just delete the sig could be a option. As most would be on old threads or at the very begining of a thread. That a lot of members don't go that far back anyway.

I've already got sigs that I could use that I've played with for another board I'm a member of. But since I've only posted there about 30 times in 6 months, as it's a very slow moving board of about 5 - 10 posts a week.

It is I guess. My point was an option of a couple different sizes i.e. 575x100 and 400x200

That would eliminate the need for people to change their sigs if they don't want to. So they still abiding by the board rules. At the same time it would leave the rest of us free to play with the taller sig! Would also add a little variety to the board as far as sig styles go!
