Cell phone providers

I recently went to Straight Talk from Walmart. I bought the cheapest phone, got the cheapest plan ($40 a month). 1000 minutes (850 more than I'll ever need), 1000 texts (900 more than I'll ever need), and there is some kind of internet thing too, that's part of the deal and I don't currently give a **** about. There's other plans if you need more, but they're not fucking me with hidden bullshit like AT&T was. I'm quite satisfied so far. If there is one criticism, and I'm not bothered by it, you have to re-up every month regardless of how much you've used your phone. I wish it was different but it's a fantasy-land wish.
Have you traveled a lot with this service yet? Is it reliable? Do you have a lot of dropped calls?
I haven't had to travel yet, but since this is a Walmart thing, I'm not worried. But I have had no other problems than the particular cell phone I picked is a strange one (to me). But all calls and texts have been smooth. And the battery life is superb.

That's a good tip. I have been thinking about dropping my current plan once the contract is up in favor of a prepaid phone instead, but it's got to be a smartphone or something. So I'm glad to hear the wal-mart one has worked out for you, maybe I'll consider that one among other choices that I might find. Still got a few months on the contract to decide.
I have Boost Mobile's Android monthly unlimited plan, I pay $55 a month. I have the shrinkage plan though so I could see my payment eventually go down to $40 a month. I have a Samsung Prevail and so far no complaints

How so? My whole ****** has cricket and they pay 45.00 a month for unlimited talk and text :/ I know sprint dont have a plan that cost that. I've been with AT&T for 15 yrs. Six yrs with home service, then the last nine yrs I have cell service with them. Never have I had a problem with them. No "hidden fees" no extra charges, nothing. People that didnt pay their bill are the ones that say it was the comapnies fault and come up with all this bad press when its their fault that they didnt pay the bill.
I used to have pre-paid, but it always ended up costing so much, It depends on if you text or call or both. I can't remember exactly how mine worked, but saw I bought a $20 dollar card and evenings and weekends was $20, then you would apply that card to your account and you had evenings and weekends. This gave you no money for daytime minutes (which with prepaid is normally how they get you so each minute costs more than a contract or month to month). So you add another ten bucks so if you have an emergency you can make a daytime call (would be horrible for work). Then if you want to text, $5 should get you unlimited. You're now at $35 and that's without data or picture messaging if you need either (plus not a whole lot of daytime minutes). I used prepaid for close to a year and finally got fed up. I wouldn't get a contract either so I just bought a phone outright and signed up for a plan which is monthly cancel at any time. Hope that helps if you are considering a prepaid plan.

I live in a heavily populated area,and the only had two carriers,Cellular One way back in the day,and Verizon.I'll never get one of those cheap ass carriers like Cricket.I have a friend who uses them,and every time I talk to him,our call drops at least twice.Seems like the cheaper carriers have a hard time in my area because of Verizon's stranglehold on the customer base.
Sure Verizon is pretty expensive compared to other carriers,but you know the old saying,you get what you pay for.
Only way I'll ever leave Verizon at this point,is if I lose my grandfathered in unlimited data.

I changed to Sprint a while ago, and it is awesome. Never had a single dropped call, my coverage is excellent, the plan is the cheapest for what I need, and on and on I can go. Mind you, I heavily use texting and internet on my phone for work, so if you don't need those things, there are likely cheaper plans.
