Cat Finds Way Home From Chicago

Yea, I actually saw that episode about two weeks ago:hatsoff: but, as we cat fiends are, many times we duplicate or attempt to duplicate the cat that we lose (when that dreaded day ever arrives) and the variant that I'm after is a blue eyed short haired critter "snowshoe" . .ah choo !

It's not that bad really :o

My sisters siamese really does it to me. If I pick her up I will be sneezing in a few minutes, but it's not that bad, like you said. I have a Persian/Snowshoe/Siamese with long ass fluffy hair but he doesn't get me going for some reason.

Perhaps it is to do with the cleanliness of the place the cat resides in? If they keep their place kind of dusty, unkempt, all that. Cat fur will pick it up. Some places being clean and very well kept up the cat will pick up less dust and other little dust bunnies.

I don't know about that because my long haired cat is an outside cat, so he is out all night and sometimes comes home looking like he spent the night in the dumpster. Still he doesn't irritate my senses. :dunno:

A home collects a lot of allergic reactions than a dumpster. It's just an observation. Don't think I am saying people keep unclean homes, but it might be a mixture of the cat fur and dust, combined, that is making you do that. The dust getting on cat fur and into your nose and sneezing commences.

Either way it is just an observation. :hatsoff:

No I hear you. The little one that gives me that reaction is an indoor only cat. She probably does pick up a lot of dust.

I used to think that most of the dust that accumulates in households was just dried soil that we tracked in on our shoes, wrong !
It's us, you and me, our skin that we shed every minute of the day, minute particles, some smaller than a micron in size, it's that and animal dander which is pretty much the same thing as our shedding skin, it's food for microscopic dust mites better known as allergens. If you have wall to wall carpeting, rugs, cloth covered couches or sofas, a mattress w/ sheets, a blanket, a bedspread, and your place of residence is a moderate climate and you don't live above the mile marker in the sky (5,600 ft give or take), by golly you have allergens in the home.

Even when using hepa filtration on everything that circulates air in my home, (mainly the forced air furnace and a commercial / hospital grade Windsor vacuum) I could vacuum 3 times a day and still, I would not be able to lessen the dust to any appreciable amount judging by the light dust profile that develops on my hardwood floor  :crying:

This ''damned'' guy once told me about using my super bright led flashlight (180 lumens and up are best) for the purpose of monitoring dust build up in the home, simply fire up the light and lay it on it's slde and view the floor surface . . .
yep ! we're chasin our tail as it were. :helpme:
Emphasizing your point that cats are more or less dust mops as they accumulate and shed day in and day out over and over this is so very true, I do my best to keep this at a minimum. :)
