Calling All Car Mechanics

Sorry fellas, with all the fuss I forgot about this thread. :o Turns out it was the cat, as the one on it (and probably the ones before that) was a cheap import that didn't work. My mate put on a used one from a scrap car and it went through the test no problem. Needless to say, I won't be going back to that "reputable" parts shop. :wave2:

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I don't know anything about cars.

I was given a 2004 Grand Prix SuperCharged GTP with cold air induction.

I'm not sure what that all means, but I love the car. Love it!

A 20% car!

In rough terms, your car is about 20% quicker than a normally aspirated Grand Prix, has about 20% more horsepower, is 20% more likely to get you pulled over for speeding... and if you're wearing a halter top, you're 20% less likely to actually get the ticket.

Those are actually pretty nice cars.

P.S. Did you know that 83.17% of all statistics on the internet are made up?

LOL...loved this note from start to finish

I agree we need more info, but if I were to guess I would start by changing your oxygen sensor. Most people don't realise that it's a regular maintenance item and it will throw off your emissions.
Listen to him. This happened to me this year. My 2000 Olds Alero wouldnt pass smog(first time ever), due to the O2 sensor going bad. Sensor runs about 80 bucks for the good one(you can get generic for half that, but dont trust that). If you cant change it yourself, a special tool is needed, then its about 150 dollars at the shop for parts and labor. Just read it was the catalytic converter? A bad O2 sensor will cause the cat to go bad as well. You should have the O2 sensor changed as well.
