Call of Duty: Vietnam confirmed

Another call of duty which will make this one #7 and Sam peppers is still not a playable character. If Sam isn't in this one, count me out...

Like the actual war itself, this has the potential to end up really awesome, or really bad.

Sounds interesting. Treyarch > Infinity Ward

Saying something like that takes balls. But I agree with you. Infinity Ward made a good game in Modern Warfare 2, but goddamn if it didn't come off as a fantasy game to me by the end.

I'd see it take on the realism of a CoD game with content like what Shellshock had. I want to be able to be a nice soldier or a cruel, cold killing soldier. I want to be able to steal from the gear of the Vietnamese, use it, sell it, whatever. Blow stuff up or use it one way or the other. Torture. The Punisher video game style torture.

Also, I would love it, for a nice scene for those of us who like the movie The Deer Hunter, to have a Russian Roulette mini game. If you get caught in the game, you get tortured, think of the torture scene in Metal Gear Solid, you press a button over and over or a sequence of buttons, and you make it out alive from a round of torture. Then, as it goes on, right before the torture level of the game ends you are forced into Russian Roulette. It all comes down to a 1-6 odds or a 4-6 odds. Your choice, however, it all goes according to the spin. No interference. Gives the player a sense of survival and death. Especially if you get your brains blown out and have to load up again.

Drug trafficking, human trafficking, prostitution, killing of the innocent and of the enemy.

Ah! How well my imagination gets the best of me when it comes to this kind of thing.

Sounds interesting. Treyarch > Infinity Ward

Treyarch wouldn't exist without Infinity Ward. The original Call of Duty was at best a mediocre game. Then Infinity Ward got a hold of it and made Call of Duty 2, then Call of Duty 4, and now Modern Warfare 2 the most recognized and best selling FPS franchise of all time. It's not even close.

why do so many people dislike world at war is it because it has been so played out .
i dont think modern warfare2 was all that good but best shooter i ever played from the cod series was cod4 mw.
my ass will be logging alot of hours when this comes out i just hope it lives up to my hopes and dreams lol

Seeing Call of duty 2 in action months before launch made me reserve an xbox360 for launch day. That game was a nice visual treat for the start of this gen. At the time there was nothing on a console that looked that good...

I played World at War on the DS and loved it. I kept thinking of how awesome it would be on console. Especially since they have the option of your next play through being zombies.

Simply because it didn't add anything to the series. It was literally a carbon copy of Call of Duty 4 with different character models. If you liked World at War, what you really liked was Call of Duty 4, and before that, Call of Duty 2. There is literally nothing remarkable about any of the Call of Duty games that Treyarch has produced, and their reviews and sales numbers reflect that. Iterations 1, 2, 4, and MW2 averaged a 93 on a 100 scale from MetaCritic, and sold a collective 75 million worldwide. Call of Duty 3 and World at War averaged an 85, and sold nearly 35 million that is, Infinity Ward is clearly the studio producing the best iterations of the game, as evidenced by their reviews and sales.

Legzman

what the fuck you lookin at?
Saw the trailer on LIVE. Looks pretty good. But not at all hyped since its all cutscenes anyway. I'll wait for gameplay vids, yet I still doubt I'll get more than moderately interested in this one.

The user-base is going to be raped by Halo anyway... On second thought that may be a very very good thing.

The new COD (Black Ops) is by Tryarch, not IW. Which is a good thing. MW2 was good for a bit, but after Bad Company 2 came out, MW2 looked pretty half assed, and full of problems. This new one should be good.
From what I have heard, you are an old war vet, and the missions go from viet nam, to cold war, and I think one other...so there should be some variety if this is true.
