California Gubernatorial Recall

If Newsom gets recalled I imagine we'll have another line-up of D-List celebrities running for Governor again. Kathy Griffin should have an interesting campaign depending on if she's taking her medication.

This picture exposing Gavin Newsom as a hypocrite will be hard for him to overcome and retain his job. Newsom seems like the poster boy for what some people refer to as "White Privilege" possibly feeling so entitled he got confused and forgot he works for us instead of the other way around.

@bubb - The California election has no effect on me, but will be interesting to see what happens there though. As Dino mentions, the Napa picture certainly works against Newsom.

It raises a question [a rhetorical one] for me: How can politicians find so many sources of cash for these elections, but then cry poverty when substantive work needs to be done?

The Amazon union election may have some relevance. If they are able to unionize, it may help some other groups with their efforts to organize. There needs to be more balance between labor and capital.

Gavin Newsom has the exterior appearance of a power hungry game show host. He is incredibly phony, even for a Californian, and comes off as insincere. Even when he apologizes for screwing up he looks like he's selling toothpaste.

Gavin got a little too big for his britches coming off a bit too authoritative with his guidelines. After the picture of him flaunting his disregard for his own guidelines surfaced many of us became furious. He pushed. We pushed back harder.

Since water seeks its own level how did this relationship go down the drain? They're perfect for each other.

About elections I am not sure where you are going with this. If you mean for their campaigns, they con people and companies out of it. if you mean elections themselves, they must have them by mandate in order to pretend it's still a democratic republic here

Don't know if you have ever been a Union member or not but I spent most of my working life in one Union or another. Been a Union officer, negotiated contracts, handled grievances. If you work for a good company you probably don't need one. If you don't it might or might not help. But of all places to try to unionize, The South, particularly Alabama. If you want a chance try Illinois or some other state where the Pols are in bed with the Unions. and the mindset is not completely against Unions. The Teamsters tried to organize our local school bus barn a few years ago. When they found out I had done the things I did they really pushed me(The Union did) to handle the job of pitching the Union. I told them no, enough was enough. If the workers wanted to go Union, I would if not I wouldn't. Told them if the employer pissed me off at this point i would just quit and go elsewhere

Dino if you live there I can understand your anger. Here Illinois our state motto is "Will the Defendant please rise" because we have so many crooked Politicians. Governors, Legislators, Local pols. Calif. is just too far away to care about

A lot of the recall decision is based on emotion. Under normal election cycles Gavin Newsom may be the closest thing to California having any kind of a moderate for Governor again. Voter trends and demographics are what I'm basing my opinion on. As a person who has a few bucks I'm looking for an eventual exit strategy when I find my own personal financial sweet spot.

There are two main Republican candidates. One is John Cox, who already ran for Governor and lost. The other guy is Kevin Faulconer, a former mayor of San Diego. I'm not interested in John Cox but I'll take a look at Faulconer. Whoever would be the servant to better serve my needs is who I would vote for.

Kim looks normal in that pic. The current version is much nicer:

Cuomo got the same big-for-the-britches attitude.

Californians moving to Colorado helped fuel a couple housing booms locally. Good for me as a homeowner. Not so good for my kids who may want to buy a home.

As for unions: I grew up in a union home, but never a member of one. Too many employers are no longer 'good employers' acting in good faith. As evidenced by the minimum wage battles, people are looking for government to intervene. A more balanced playground would be preferred.

From where I’m sitting on the West Coast it looks like Cuomo has more pitchforks and torches coming at him than even Newsom does. Is Andrew as much of an arrogant bully as he’s been portrayed?
They are probably equal, but in different ways. A CA liberal and NY liberal aren't alike. I have found the NY arrogance to be more direct and abrasive while the CA arrogance is indirect. That is my experience in dealing with the coasts. The Colorado arrogance can be a mixture since there are so many immigrants to the state. It's a mixture of west coast, east coast, and mid-western arrogance. It depends on your parents.

I think it may have to do more with them being Californians and New Yorkers. Joan Rivers described herself as a California Conservative. I found a lot in common with her thinking. I'm a tolerant person socially but have concern with how wisely my tax dollars are being spent. A Liberal from West Virginia is closer to being a right-winger than I am. I'm also the closest thing to a Liberal in a house of majority Filipinos too. They liked Marcos a bit too much. Something about the trains always running on time...

Mary Carey is heading into the fray. She finished 10th in 2003 with 11,000 votes:
https://kmph.com/news/local/mary-carey-is-set-to-run-for-governor-of-california-again

Anything is possible in 2021.

Mary said: “Last time I ran I was young, dumb and full of fun. This time I have more experience and will not be taking this position laying down. I am ready to be on top!” and "I’ve always gone both ways, so as Governor, I won’t be shy about working with Democrats and Republicans alike.”

Arnold's former maid is better at turning tricks and hustling fellas than she is. Where is Mildred Baena's campaign at?

"As a former maid who better to clean up California?"

I bet Mary can clean up nicely too.

Only clean thing about Mary Carey is what she claims in her hooker ads.

You know Gary Coleman ran the last time?

Ariana Huffington also ran but got less votes than Mary Carey and Gary Coleman.
I had forgotten about Gary running until I read another article. Larry Flynt also ran. As did former MLB Commissioner Peter Ueberroth. It sounds like it may not be too different this year.
