Bulgaria?

Cheap, cheerful and plenty of hookers.Just remember to take your mates

Where in Bulgaria are you going to :)

Whenever I travel I always make it a point to learn this phrase in the native language of that country, " Do what you want to the girl but leave me alone!".

Because you never never know :nono:

Sofia.

The impression I get is to behave and be respectful (like most places I suppose).

Is it relatively safe? I'm sure my mates will appreciate the hookers but not for me. Aside from Amsterdam I'm always put off the idea of getting hookers due to stories which I've heard.

I'm from Bulgaria, i live in Sofia. As tartanterrier said it's cheap. It's a bit of a third world country, there's a lot of crime, thiefs in particular, although downtown Sofia is quite crowded someone could still pick your pockets. Now i'm not racist but in our country people tend to stay away from gipsys and for a good reason. Most of the criminals are gipsys. Other than that, and the fact that our country is a bit dirty, it's great. People are warm and welcoming, most of the younger ones speak English, the food is great, there are plenty of places to go to and did i mention that Bulgarian girls are HOT? The upshot is it's a nice place to go on vacation, especially in the summer though as city's like Varna and Burgas at least in my opinion are even better than Sofia. Have fun on your vacation!

Pickpocketing, what's next pocketwatch fencing.

If you do that then you should have a good holiday. As for personal safety, look like the folks who live
there and keep your belongings in your inside,so you won't be a big target for those gypsies that
wastedr29 spoke of :)

Didnt go to Sofia but went to Sunny Beach, and that was awsome. Cheap food, great nights out. I liked Bulgaria, and the people were friendly enough. The Bulgarian mafia didnt bother us at all . But they might just be in sunny beach.

Remember to speak Russian to the locals; all states formerly under the Soviet thumbs LOVE to hear the language of their former oppressors and will love you for it. :D
