Spanish actually, but Mexicans are Spanish... I think? or at least from when the Spaniards invaded Central America.
I've always wondered why Spanish and Mexican food is different? Maybe from the surrounding influences?
Srsly?!? Where do I even
start addressing this? First of all, I am
NOT Spanish. I speak Spanish, my great grandmother's grandparents came from Spain, and there are certain customs and traditions that my mom's family follows that originated in Spain, but we are
NOT Spanish. What you just said was as bigoted and ignorant as when my dad's redneck dad used to say that anyone from south of the border was a Mexican, regardless of where they were from, because it was all Mexico, and they all spoke Mexican. It's like if I saw an Asian person walking down the street and I said he's Chinese because all Chinamen have slanty eyes.
Why is Spanish food different from Mexican food? Oh, I dunno, maybe because they have different origins, ingredients, and flavors? Why is French food different from Italian food? I mean, France was part of the Roman empire, right? Shouldn't they all be eating pizza and chicken parmigiana?
Chorizo is Mexican. The Spanish sausage you're thinking of is longaniza, chistorra, butifarra, or a slew of other sausages from Spain.
Just for the sheer ignorance of that post I'm sorry that I'm not allowed to give negative rep.
