Book Renting

I was just thinking... My ****** does a lot of reading, she spends hundreds of pounds a year buying books and she never reads them more than once (twice on a few occasions). So why not have a book rental scheme? You know, kind of like a video rental store, but with books instead of videos.

What do you think? Does anyone know if a place like this exists already? If not, I'm gonna start one and make my millions.

There's a website called swaptree.com where you can trade books, dvds, and cds. I used it a couple times, but it doesn't work that well. People want you to trade a tv series dvd set for one book, or some bullshit like that. Also, people get bitchy about the condition of the items - it's like amazon, where you have to describe the condition. I had a used dvd that I bought from a pawn shop, so I put that into the description - then the guy I traded with bitched endlessly and tried to get me ****** from the site, when he knew the condition all along.

to me, it seems libraries might as well go out of business anytime soon. i like to read too, but i like having a copy. its kinda like my porn dvds. i just like having them in my collection. i tried renting, its lame. but your idea seems it would probably work better over on your end of the world maybe.
