Black History Month

I agree with Teddy Roosevelt that we're all Americans first. So, we shouldn't consider ourselves Irish American, African American, or Yemeni Americans - Just Americans and we all come from somewhere else (Native Americans excepted).

We owe a large debt to African Americans that goes beyond 40 acres and a mule. The only way I know how to repay that from the government perspective is with equality. I believe these Civil Rights have been put into law. **** crimes are also protected (or prosecuted) under Federal Law. Without getting into an affirmative action debate, I feel the rest is up to us. I still feel we have some ways to go with racial relations. I also feel it is up to us to get there and treat everyone fairly.

Those are the important things. I really don't care about Black History Month. It is interesting, but keep it or don't. Honoring MLK is deserved.
