Sorry, I'm not going to sift through YouTube videos. I'm not WTC7.
You watch him. Does he or does he not insult (often viciously) anyone who opposes him? There have been insults in all of these videos posted in this thread.
He IS a comedian. Therefore, part of his shtick is to ridicule those who act and talk dumb.
I haven't seen him disrespect his guests..otherwise they wouldn't return. Does he lambaste people like Palin, Bachmann, Bush, etc.? Hell yeah he does..but his show isn't the same format as Beck's. Maher is a comedian.
His approach to the subject of politics as a comedian is no different from his approach to any other subject.
Comparing Maher to Beck isn't the comparison... Maher's comparison would be Dennis Miller if Miller could ever keep his audience awake long enough to have a show like Maher's.
Like I said, Beck doesn't even half way attempt to wrestle logic on a topic. He spins a point of view (poorly) and tries to pass it off a serious and topical.
But that's kind of what I'm saying, Maher doesn't debate with logic as much as he jokes and puts down the opposing side. He's a comedian who tries to make himself look like an intellectual by slamming others.
He's not a philosopher, or a deep thinker. He's a comedian with opinions, and is loud about voicing them. And it's sad that he has lead people to believe that if you follow the views of a comedian, you are an intellectual.
Bill Maher has been called out on using false facts, such as Brazilian oil usage. He is flawed, he is biased, and he does often rip apart his guests. Sometimes I believe that's why he invited them. Not to debate fairly, but in hopes that they will say something he can laugh at and attack them for.
He has called America a stupid country, and defended that claim with statistics without giving sources. And when he presented those stats, some of his own audience proved themselves to be some of the idiots he was attacking.
Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert are comedians. Glenn Beck and Bill O'Reilly aren't, but they're still TV personalities. It's their personality that makes people buy what they're selling.
None of them are worth my time. My views of politics and the world around me come from people with an open mind, and my own pondering of the facts.

^None of them are worth your time but bitching about them on here is worth your time? Every news outlet your "views" come from are going to be from someone who is bias in one way or another. That is why people choose to watch whoever their viewpoints match the most and who states more facts than most which Bill Maher does.

Too many people follow him "religulously". So taking 2 minutes to tell people to check the facts and form their own opinion, yeah, that's worth it.
I don't take anyone's bullshit at face value. Just because someone says it's fact, that doesn't make it so. I believe in truth and the pursuit of truth. Not the pursuit of the convenient truth.
Too many people follow a lot of things religiously.. like religion for that matter. But I wouldnt say people follow him religiously more like he takes a different stand point and view on things like religion and politics so a lot of people are drawn to that and find it a refreshing break from the normal viewpoints stated all the time.
And as far as facts his viewers tend to be more unforgiving of his mistakes and hold him to them more than any fans I know. Go check the Real time forum. But people like you who just dont like him for whatever reason pick at one misquoted poll or news story and act like the guy is spewing lies every week. 2 minutes? With 4 post/replies.. Right... Dont like the man or the thread then move along.
