joe satriani taught Steve Vai how to play the way he does so I say ,ost stuff by Joe haha, weather hes in a copy right war with the gayest band in history (cold play) or not.

Ok my top 10 favorite guitar solos (in no specific order) are.

Eruption - Van Halen
Play With Me - Extreme
Star Spangled Banner - Jimi Hendrix
Gotta Get To You - Dweezil Zappa
Bill's Private Parts - Steve Vai
It's Not Love - Dokken
Operation : Mindcrime - Queensryche
It's Showtime - David Lee Roth
Panama - Van Halen
Round And Round - Ratt

Lord Dipstick
Anything by Alex Skolnick from Testament..... Dude is a beast!

Tetragrammatron by the Mars Volta. Or any Omar Rodriguez Lopez Solo. And John Frusciante as well, including some of his chilli peppers stuff. I love his sound.

My favorite solo of all time is Adam Jones of Tool on Four Degrees. Not difficult, not long or pretentious. It cuts like a knife and fits the song so well.

Not the best, per se, but I love the solo from The Wailers' Concrete Jungle.

Unfortunately, the solo's not on any live YouTube vids 'cause Bob Marley had a massive ego and wouldn't let Peter Tosh perform it on any televised gigs.

Gilmour.

1. The Wall - simple & brilliant technique, i have cried trying to copy it.
2. Standin Round Cryin' with Paul Rogers - ditto
