I think you can really tell peoples age by what they answer.Seems like the newer generation like Family Guy and South Park.
I've been watching cartoons for as long as I can remember, and my favorite was Battle Of The Planets. From what I understand, though, they really dumbed it down for the American audience.
The first generation of Robotech, was probably the most intense cartoon for the day.It was the only one that had major characters die on the show. That really heavy subject matter for children and early teens alike.
The classics will always be towards the top of the list though. The Flintstones,Tom And Jerry,Popeye,Woody Woodpecker,Bullwinkle,Tennesee Tuxedo, those are all great classics.
Cartoons nowadays suck, with the exception of a few.Ever since Ren And Stimpy, they have been trying to come out with weirder and quirkier shows, and I just think that they are trying too hard to be different.
The funny thing about it is that John K's style for Ren and Stimpy was pretty much a rip off of Ralph Bakshi's Mighty Mouse:The New Adventures, which was very trippy for kids, back in the day.I remember my parents watching it with me,saying how weird it was from the original.
As for more recent weird toons,I really liked Samurai Jack and Invader Zim(which was grossly underrated and under appreciated, along with Futurerama).
My personal favorites were
Voltron(both versions that aired in U.S..There was a third that never aired here,as far as I know)
ThunderCats
G.I. Joe (original)
Transformers (original)
Inspector Gadget(when he had the mustache,he actually wasn't a complete idiot,if memory serves me well)
M.A.S.K.
and don't even get me started talking about Saturday mornings.
Like I said, cartoons just suck now.just look on Youtube for 80's cartoon intos and notice how all of those great memories come rushing back.Cartoons now don't even have good theme songs anymore. It's pretty sad.
