I came across this 20 minute documentary about Miriam Weeks and her experiences in the porn industry.

It was certainly interesting and eye opening, and I hope some OCSMs can give their feedback on what they thought.

In particular I was surprised to hear that she was criticized by other girls in the industry, calling her a brat for complaining about not being able to choose who she works with, or face the "Kill fee". Watching the pre-shoot interviews for Kink.com shoots, I thought the actresses had a lot of control over who they worked with, and what they were willing to do, even on that specific day (e.g. "No anal today"). It certainly didn't sound like they found out who they were working with or the nature of the shoot until they arrived on set. And if in fact what she says is true, I can see why she'd feel like complaining.

Or is there more to this that she didn't talk about?

Conspiracy...
It's not that she is "abused" in any way.

She's just bitter and a whiner.

There shouldn't be a kill fee, unless there's something wrong with the technical equipment.

By now, people should know what they are getting into when they decide to start working in porn.

What is the kill fee?

From what she says in the video, it's a penalty an actress pays for bailing on a shoot. The one she mentions is $300, although nothing is said about whether that's normal or not, and it's also mentioned that getting a kill fee means you're also blackballed.
I can understand the fee if you cancel for no good reason (there's cancellation fees for everything), but the situation she describes is a little different.

That's a little unfair to the directors, actors and everyone else involved in a cancelled shoot, no?
Wouldn't a better solution be to keep the Kill Fee, but disclose ahead of time the specifics of the shoot?
