AVI problems ?

Hi I have some old AVI files that I have not seen in a couple of years.

But I can't get any of my players to play the files.

Please help ?

VLC player will play almost any file. Try updating it to the newest version.

Not sure why VLC wouldn't work for you because it will play damn near any file type. However, if you're using a Mac with Quicktime or Quicktime X then you will need a plugin called Perian to play the files. You can download it here Premium Link Upgrade

If that doesn't work you can try to "fix" the .avi file with VLC. You can use Google to find instructions for that. Otherwise, you may have some corrupted files.

I am not using a mac.

I have maybe 20 of those files and they are from some old video tapes that I have ripped to avi files with a program that I can't remember. The files are very large 2, 3 and some are 4 gb. They worked a couple of years ago.

windows media player says error message C00D1199.

If your files are that large you could try & compress them with special software by converting them into wmv or mpeg files. It would save you alot of space as well ;) Theyre more likely to play better if you compress them.

Heres something that might help
