It was absolutely necessary. The Japanese were prepared to fight for many more years. The absolute and utter destruction of the first bomb on Hiroshima wasnt even enough in that we had to drop a second one on Nagasaki. This was when they finally decided that the fight would not be worth the consequences. I have yet to hear a more compelling argument against the bomb than that! :tongue:Well my ****** served in the Navy in the Pac theatre '44-'45. He was to have participated in Operation Olympic and had he survived that Operation Coronet as well.
Without the two bombs his life and thus mine would've been in jeopardy. So I fully support the bombings.
