ATT to buy TMobile in $39billion deal --so much for competition in the U.S. market

This just came over the wires...

When the deal goes through, and it will with a Republican Congress and a bunch of wusses in the FCC, there will be AT&T #1 in the U.S. followed by Verizon very close behind and Sprint a distant 3rd. Boost and Cricket are tiny niche players not serious threats or competitors to those other 3.

How will such a small list of competitors be good for a nation as large as the U.S. cell market is? I guess we will just ask AT&T and Verizon to lower prices and hope thy comply or, most likely, we'll get the "we would but this is a challenging economy and we need revenue to pay for improvements.." blah blah blah.

AT&T either has no 4G plan or is very slow in rolling out their 4G plan. To me, an AT&T and iPhone 4 user--who gives a shit about 4G? Seriously? I use my iPhone from Wifi networks anyway. I don't experience any dropped calls. 4G is not a need or want from me. AT&T's 3G network is fast enough for me. 4G seems like a nice fast way to blow out a data plan, is all that is...:dunno:

Verizon is just as greedy and shitty as AT&T. I left shitty Verizon for AT&T. I haven't experienced any probs with AT&T yet...but I don't like this deal.

Perhaps the Gov't should've mandated TMobile and SPrint merge because it's only a time before Verizon buys Sprint and than we're down to 2 nationwide monopolies...:anonymous

I like Verizon way much more than AT&T. This sucks

Re: ATT to buy TMobile in $39billion deal --so much for competition in the U.S. marke

LOL...They're buying back the shit they just sold to T-Mobile a few years ago..

But the point of it is..that it doesn't make sense (to them) for these carriers to spend billions of dollars flooding the same coverage areas with the same features and products.

AT&T will be the leader in Cell service plus they are a threat to Cable Companies (which I happen to like, actually) with their U-verse tv service which has been my best digital tv service experience, to be honest.

I'm sort of waiting for AT&T to buy ABC, and then it can basically blow away Cable companies....it could then take ESPN and ABC programming and restrict it Uverse :eek or charge cable companies significant fees (which they will eat or try to pass to customers)...

AT&T might be on it's path to becoming GOLIATH CORP in the U.S......again, peeps.....

That seems like rationalization for monopolistic behavior, Mega :surprise::cthulhu: :weeping:

Aww crap! I have Tmobile, now ATT is taking them over and ATT's signals suck for cell phones. Looks like I'm going over to Verizon or sprint. Thankfully my plan is up. Well that explains as to why the Tmobile stores are all gone.

I'm in the same situation as you man. My dad had AT&T for a few years and it sucked. The network was always dropping calls and there was always dead zones where he couldn't send texts or make calls at all. I'm probably going to go over to Verizon, this shit is ridiculous,

What's with all this dropped call nonsense in the states? I've never had a dropped call since I've owned a Cellphone and I've been on every major provider.

Well that is one way to STOP the Commercials T-Mobile has been doing SLAMMING AT&T.

Not that I care, I like my AT&T (sorry, ducking head) My phone works when so many of my friends do not and I have to laugh! But I am sure its the areas that I am lucky enough to be in!
