I mean seriously, WTF is "The Eastenders" all about anyway? I tried watching it once like ten years ago... why does it even air in the US?

Anyway back on point, what is it about? Having not watched the show in at least 10 years I may be a little out of the loop on this but from what I remember it's about absolutely nothing. The dramatisation of the day to day lives of a bunch of fictional idiots living in a fictional town, that's it. Why anyone would knowingly subject themselves to this nonsense on a regular basis is beyond me, but it's still on so someone likes it. I suppose we can all hope they all die sooner rather than later.......

Now as a fully paid up member of the BB fan club I would hope you take this in the spirit intended...my mum likes this programme and if I levelled this criticism at her choices, I'm guessing she would come right back (no pun intended) and point out out that a lot of the content on freeones is a) less artful, b) more poorly acted and c) uniformly predicable in it's outcome. (Pun intended)

I feel it is worth quoting the mighty Undertones on this,

"The Eastenders" (currently in its 25th year) is basically a highly-addictive soap about poor, angry, aggressive, depressed people, The Cockneys and The Gingermen (one who died a couple of nights back), and it is so desperately crack-addictive to so many similarly depressed and lost Britishers, it is the main reason English people pay almost £150 per year to watch it on their tellies ('TVs'), and that is *legally mandatory* (if one wants to watch television over here).

Yes, our "English government" can and WILL send certain folk to prison for not paying the TV licence that primarily funds a shit show like "The Eastenders"!!!! :rofl:

I didn't agree much with his politics (who can forget the Labour’s party’s 1983 general election socialist manifesto, which was derided by Gerald Kaufman, as “the longest suicide note in history”)...come to think of it, I wasn't that big a fan of Maggie Thatcher either.
But Michael Foot & Maggie believed in their political stance - and I can respect that.
