Aye right in both cases, a tailback is congestion... for example the M4 motorway (highway I guess for you) becomes a 100 mile long car park every morning due to tailbacks.

An English muffin is a kind of pastry, well, not really a pastry, as it's not sweet, but more like a kind of hockey-puck-shaped bread that's typically used for breakfast. People usually put butter and jelly or honey on them. We have scones in the US, but they're sweet, whereas English muffins are unflavored.
That one's easy. I've never heard James Brown jelly, but I sure as hell have heard him jam! :rofl:
Seriously, though, from my understanding, jam is more solid than jelly. Jellies tend to be somewhat runny, whereas jams are sort of like butter just out of the fridge.
Milwall as a football club still do have a very bad reputation. Nowadays they lie in league 1 [the 3rd division down] and play in front of less than 10,000. I think their "bark is worse than their bite" nowadays.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it's something to do with Napoleon being left handed, so he walked on the right side of the road to stop his ***** banging into people (Brits walked on the left, as you say most were right-handed). So maybe all these countries drive on the right just to prove they are not part of the British Empire, which was pretty huge back in the day (you will notice "friendlier" countries, like Japan and Australia, still drive on the left). It's just a well known theory, I don't know if it's really true. :wave2:

Why yes ! Americans can be absolutely captivated by a more dignified sounding spoken "UK-ish" accent.
It always sounds more authoritative and attracts a better listening audience, IMO. An English accented salesman could sell fireballs in hell !! lol !
Don't expect the untraveled American to know the difference between an N.Irish and a London accent ! That takes time !

A UK-ish accent ( IMO) has nothing to do with captivating me. Dignified? puleeze... An intelligent spoken word captivates my attention, and has nothing to do with accent.

Not as far as I'm aware. Rugby can sometimes become a ****** encounter between the two sides - they're not wearing all that namby-pamby body cushions those oh-so butch Grid Iron players wear. :1orglaugh
Okay, the reason for this is that back in the day, people had to carry swords for personal protection. As the vast majority of people are right-handed, it's easier to have your ***** hanging by your left leg so you can draw it with your right (try it and see). Therefore when you drew your ***** you had most protection on the right - so people walked down the road on the left, as they were better able to protect themselves this way. Our steering wheels are on the right because it works better that way. Think how difficult driving would be for you guys if you swapped the wheel over...
This is also the reason that waiters serve from the left - a friend or unarmed person would approach you from the left.
