Are These Good CPU Speakers?

I am looking to buy new speakers with a sub woofer for my computer. My price range is around $60-$70. I don't need a killer system for watching movies and stuff, just something other than my laptop speakers and something a little better than small desktop speakers.

I see some sets online with Wattage ranging from 50-140. Is the more wattage the better? like, is that equivalent to how strong the output would be? I was thinking of getting this but since i am a speaker n00b i thought id run it by you all first. http://www.target.com/Philips-Extreme-Speaker-System/dp/B00091SAZC/ref=sc_ri_3/602-6683528-0360657

thanks.

That should be plenty of speaker for you. Also check out Logitech and Creative for good quality, cheap speakers. If you don't want to rattle your windows and you're not a hardcore audiophile, ie you just want to be able to hear decent sound, you could even get away with spending only half that amount.

Those speakers are sweet!  Go for it dude!

Not a bad set of 2.1 surroundies.. but why hook it up to the CPU? The audio-out would be so much easier.

As long as you have a woofer and decent mid to high range response, anything is acceptable.

I use Altec Lansing. They've worked fine so far.

I thought it, but didn't say it!

I had to, I HAD TO! ::cries tears.... of joy?::

If I had a dollar for every person that completely, severely.. mistakenly referred to a piece of tech/equipment and.. with confidence... called it something it wasnt? Whew. Lots of cash.

'Yeah Imma go to the station and pump some gas into the engine.'

'throw your clothes in the dishwasher before the dryer!'

haha, ok, my mistake. i would hook it up to the audio out which is located on my computer.

my friend does the same thing.

ME: "I'm gonna run to the store real quick, you want anything?"
FRIEND: "Dude, just drive there, it's easier."
