Any piano players here?..

At the ripe old age of 40, I've decided to learn myself to play..

So far I can play with jingle bells and can expertly finger Mary had a little lamb..

but enough about my perversions.

I expect the phone to ring any moment asking if I can stand-in for Elton John on his next tour.

Seriously, anyone got good tips for me?

Just practice as much as you can.I would love to help but I just play the Keytar

Oh... so nothing at all like a piano, then...:D

Unless you wear zebra tights while your playing it then no. We are way to cool to sit and play. keytar players have to rock out

I can play with my feet ... if that helps? :dunno:

Oh and my forehead..... but that's more of a progressive jazz sound and I don't think that's really where you want to go as a beginner.

You'd probably be a big hit if you smashed your head on a keyboard and called it Society's Musical! Of course, you can only pull that off at one of those stupid college progressive jazz clubs.

How else do you think I make my living (amongst other less legal endeavours)? It's a meagre living, I'll give it that. But it's still a living.

Cheap student bastards! :crash:

Blu can I wear my red dress with the slit in the side and sit on your piano?

I jack off on stage to a nice light jazz theme while reciting poetry about pacifism and when I ejaculate I call that the end of the military industrial complex dynasty. To get out of cleaning it up off the stage I tell the college students to clean it up, get in the role, for one day it will have shattered and they will have to clean it up to acquire that perfect world they all fantasize about! Clean puppets, clean!

I pull in around 400 a night for that bit.

Perhaps we can put both our talents together and charge the hell out of those damn college students!

I can't (I used to twirl a mean baton though!) but hubby plays piano. Tough to convince him to though, it's a rare occasion when he does. Guess it's about time I talk him into it again soon...

I'm guessing that you prefer he gets his organ out..

I play the keyboard, and I must say that it and piano are two of the easiest instruments to play. I can't give you any hint, tho. The best thing is to have a teacher to correct and help you while you play for at least 6 months, than you can go on your own and the rest is practising.

I want to learn how to play the piano my self, also the guitar. I just got my Cochlear implants back in sept of last year, and have been getting uses to it. So, maybe in a year.

I've played since I was 5, and I've taught a lot of people, many of them adults.

I think the key is to practice using music that you know and enjoy. If you know it, you'll be able to easily identify errors. If you like it, you'll want to be able to play it. A double plus for motivation.

Branch out with new stuff if that excites you, but start with songs you know. So, Tunsty, you can pick up songbooks by Poison, and Ratt.

Yeah, those are good tips. After I learnt the basics my teacher always let me choose the songs, according to my skill level, of course. I like all the songs I can play, and as lurkingdirk said, that is really helpful.
