And I Quote...

How about a thread with your favorite quotes. Post them here. The only rules are to keep 'em clean and accurate with the source cited (please check spelling/grammar). We have much to learn.
Why you ask? Let's get it started.

An intellectual is a person who has discovered something more interesting than sex. - Aldous Huxley

All the world's a stage,

Inanimate objects can be classified scientifically into three major categories; those that don't work, those that break down and those that get lost.

THese are from the greatest mind that ever lived, Lao-tzu:

“Men are born soft and supple; dead, they are stiff and hard. Plants are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry. Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life. The hard and stiff will be broken. The soft and supple will prevail.”

“Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom. Mastering others is strength; mastering yourself is true power.”

“Don't think you can attain total awareness and whole enlightenment without proper discipline and practice. This is egomania. Appropriate rituals channel your emotions and life energy toward the light. Without the discipline to practice them, you will tumble constantly backward into darkness.”

Well, here's one that always strikes a chord within me.

" ... I am become death, destroyer of worlds ... "
- Robert J. Oppenheimer, creator of the Atomic Bomb
- Quoted after witnessing the world's first nuclear explosion.

I've always find that quotation (attributed to Shiva, a Hindu God) to be chilling and very dark, almost fore-telling and oppressive. It brings to mind Armageddon; which, if you tend to be introspective and philosophical like me, can be compared to a nuclear war.

Wow... helluva "Thought For The Day", huh?

:D

"We must speak the truth about terror. Let us never tolerate outrageous
conspiracy theories concerning the attacks of September the 11th;
malicious lies that attempt to shift the blame away from the terrorists,
themselves, away from the guilty."

United Nations, November 10th, 2001

George W. Bush launches a pre-emptive assault on the truth.

Dubya, I was still in shock back then, believing everything y'all said. Isn't it a bit early to drop that one? If us "conspiracy nutjobs" are wackos unworthy of recognition, why the fuck did you direct the world to shun our questions before we even thought to ask them?

To maintain the thread on topic, dropping hate bombs on me should be left to the REP function. Thank you. :nanner:

When theres no more room in hell,The dead will walk the earth

-Ken Foree (From the o.g. Dawn of the dead)

Death is always on the way, but the fact that you don't know when it will arrive seems to take away from the finiteness of life. It is that terrible precision that we hate so much."Because we do not know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well, and yet everything happens only a certain number of times..How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood...an afternoon that's so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps 4 or 5 times more. Perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet it all seems limitless."

-Brandon Lee-

*I love this one it really gets to me*
