Am I in trouble here?

I have been going out with my girl friend for about a year now things have been going really great between us when we first met I was 17 years old and she was 15.

Now a year later I'm 18 years old and she's 16 my question is this could I get in trouble with the law because I'm dating a "minor", if so this would suck cause I love her so much :( . I mean I've met girls my age who are in no way as mature as she is. The law sucks sometimes....

If you live in the United States and you're having sex with her, you COULD get in trouble for it if someone, like her parents, decided to turn you in.

Hay, this happened to me once. I was 17 and the girl was 18. Well we had been dateing for awhile. Anyways.. to make a long story short, we were makeing out in a car in some park one night. Needless to say the cops showed up. Nothing would have happened to her except for me haveing my belt undone. The cops checked our I.D.'s and the fact that I was 17 and she was 18, they halled her down for statutory rape. I didnt press charges so nothing happened. It was quite hilarious after the fact. I had like a month left to go before I turned 18. She refused to do anything sexual with. Hell she wouldnt even kiss me. But, the day I turned 18, or should I say that night, now thats something I will probably talk about when I'm 80 shitting in my diapers and cant remember my grandchildrens names.

Suck up to her dad. Watch some football with him. Whatever his favorite team is, is your favorite team too and you're gold.

It should be okay, unless somthing fucked up happens and she tries to get revenge and reports you to the cops or some shit.

:2 cents:

In Texas, it is a defense to prosecution (kinda like an excuse that may get you out of trouble) if the actor (you) are less than three years older that the victim (her)... too bad your not in Texas...

If I'm understanding you right, then I think the same exists in Washington State! :2 cents:

just don't fuck her :p

Most states have an age differential clause in the statutory rape definition. In other words, it is considered statutory rape if the minor is less than a certain age AND and age differential is greater than X number of years (commonly 5 or 3 years). In these states, an 18 year old can have sex with a 16 year old. This is done so that bullshit cases like the one Togath described don't happen.

Amstrad.. tell me about it.. Indiana is one bass ackwards state... I couldnt believe they actually took the girl in.. but it is concidered a crime here or atleast it was 15 years ago... It might have changed since then...

What really matters is state law not federal

I live on the border of SC and NC. In SC I fuck a 16 yr old, if she moves to NC I gotta wait 2 years, or drive south.

You got it right... the law is set up to keep high school 18-year old from going to prison just for diddling his 16-year old girl... Lord help you if you are over the age limit for your state though... Most states really hit hard on the prosecution of this stuff... I testified on a guy a few years ago, I think the ages were something like 16 and 22, anyway, he got 12 years or so. OUCH...

haha its legal at 16 in the uk :p

do not have sex with her. In many countries it might be legal but not in the United States. Well according to court cases i've read about it might be something called statutory rape.

*cough cough* Wow is it dusty in here.

Not trying to be a party pooper, but the thread starter I'm sure won't see this. He has been gone since 10/04. The thread last posted in 9/04. :)
