Facts are facts. Or are they? Kellyanne Conway, senior advisor to President Donald Trump, started a not-so-fact-based Twitter trend with her comments Sunday to NBC's "Meet the Press" host Chuck Todd.

While defending White House press secretary Sean Spicer's statement about the size of the audience at Trump's inauguration, Conway said, "You're saying it's a falsehood and Sean Spicer, our press secretary, gave alternative facts to that."

Twitter users know a big juicy bone when they see one, and tore after the idea of "alternative facts," noting that there are many ways in which the phrase could come in handy.

Watching Conway try to polish **** that (I hope only) a few on the right consume with appropriately ****-eating grins is funny, but also depressing. If there is a significant audience for her bullshit, we really are a fucking stupid country. And I don't mean stupid as uninformed or uneducated - I mean stupid in fundamentally lacking the ability to critically assess.

I remember hearing about a poll years ago that asked Americans something to the effect of: Would you prefer to have the economy of Japan (or somewhere, I don't remember) grow 50% while the American economy grows 10% or have the economy of Japan shrink 50% while the American economy shrinks 10% - and the majority voted for the latter. Moral of the story? Vindictive to the point of self-destruction. My how it describes you.

That all said, I've never found this poll and can't even say if it actually took place, but the exhibit here clearly shows the sentiment exists.

Comedian Jack Dee doing a skit on the Chunnel between London and Paris (or wherever the fuck the Channel Tunnel goes). Some Cockney drove a semi truck (lorry) into the tunnel that apparently was on fire. You had the right brand of humor (humour), just the wrong scoundrel(s). My ex-wife took me to see Jack Dee once upon a time in old London town. Fuck, I can't remember the name of the theater. That was a long time ago.

If he said "viewed" instead of "attended" they could have gotten away with it with semantics. Truth is that we didn't have as much streaming to phones in 2009 but is it really fair to estimate how many people were streaming Trump's inauguration? Kellyanne Conway could have spun it that way but she is a fucking disaster. For the next 4 years I'm going to have a basket of rolled up socks to throw at her every time she shows her face on my TV.
