I don't ***** terribly often, but I will enjoy a **** or some **** with some company.

I drank ******* maybe 7 or 8 times times in 2008. It's good but I never feel that great the next day. usually when I'm out on the town I'm ******** plain orange juice or diet soda.:yinyang:

I ***** many units of ****. A case (24) a week at least. I don't know if that makes me an alcoholic, but it's definitely making me a fat ass. I made a resolution the other day to stop cold turkey. It's going pretty well actually. I hope it sticks.

I have a pretty high tolerance, which isn't necessarily a good thing. If I go to a bar, I'll have to spend $75-100 just to get *****.



Standard 12 oz cans. I don't "do" the whole Tall Boy thing.

Chef.....your liver is going to be pissed at you.....not lecturing you, I used to ***** about a 12 pack every night for a couple of years. Then I got into trouble. Then I lost the desire.

Every once in a while, I have a ****......my problem is, I can't just stop at one *****.....it feels so good, that first *****, that I just keep....on....going......if the sun is coming up, it's time to quit.

By the way, for the record, AA is a bunch of bullshit IMO.

Only they don't call it God, they call it a "Higher Power". that's ironic isn't it? high is a euphemism for being in a chemical induced state. the power, that was high, got you high, so now you want to go to Him to make you not high anymore. Who came up with this ****? he must have been high.

They used to refer to it as God directly,not just "higher power".........I think they got sued,or something.

As far as AA goes, I wouldn't recommend it. I think they are a bunch of assholes, in my experience. and studies show that they are no more effective then people who just take the initiative to quit on their own without any kind of program (about 50/50).

First of all they think that only God can make you stop ********. Which in my opinion, not only demoralizes the person by taking their actions completely outside of their control, but also increases the likelihood of failure by taking away their own responsibility for it. By that "logic" If god is supposed to cure you, then he must be the one that made you an alcoholic in the first place, and if you aren't cured, then you are meant to keep going on ********, no matter how you feel about it.

Wow, I had a completely different experience in AA. When I attended meetings, hardly anybody claimed that "God" (or any form of) was helping them stay sober. They all knew that they were doing it themselves, with the help of the people who attended the meetings with them. Yes, there were some religious nutbags, but, in my experience, they only made up a very, very small percentage of people who went to AA meetings.

Also, hardly anyboby in AA ever preached about God and pushed the idea of religion on other people while I was there. The term "higher power" could mean anything. Sure, it could mean God...if you wanted it to. But, it could also mean your friends, your ******, your ********, your fellow AA members, etc. In my experience, most people looked to their ****** and fellow AA members as their "higher power", not God.

I made a joke about this in one of my meetings, and I think it fits here...

"If I'm trying to quit ********, why would I trust someone who turned water into **** to help me?"

I haven't had a ***** in over 15 years. AA was a big help to me for about the first 8 or 9 years of being sober...stopped going for various reasons, but I'm grateful for the help and support I got there. I honestly believe I couldn't have made it without those meetings and all the friends I made there.

well that's cool that some of you guys had a positive expereicne with AA. It seems that having people to support you and know what you are going through is a must, and I can see how a group setting can help. Most recovering addicts say the hardest part about it is having to get a whole new set of freinds, because of course all thier buddies are other addicts or people that are connected to it in some way.

I just don't really think the program is that great, but then I am not really a fan of any doctrines and submitting to authority is not my thing at all. But to each his own.
