Al Gore is a hypocritical asshole

Three lullabies in an ancient tongue
Unlike the old, tired, done-a-thousand-times political ploy of promoting stories that suggest that an adversary is a hypocrite. I feel sorry for people who buy into propaganda and believe ridiculous stories like that anyway.

"Hmmm... how can we discredit Gore... I know! Let's say that his house uses more energy than anyone else's..."
"No, that's not enough... we need to really shame him..."
"OK... his house uses more power in one week than the average house in... A WHOLE YEAR!"
"That's it! It's perfect! I'll call Rupert Murdoch now!"

Absolutely. Just typical right-wing mud being slung to focus attention on the insignificant. I am not a Gore fanatic but his message about global warming is true, real and timely.

He's a hypocrite, but not wrong ..

http://www.tennesseepolicy.org/main/article.php?article_id=367
For two reasons.
One: Global warming is a farce. I was in Colorado two weeks ago and it 2 degrees every night, just as it has been forever. The record high for one of the days I was there was set in.....1947!
Two: As you will read in that very brief article, While Al Gore has been trying to SHAME everyone into saving energy, his house uses more electricity in one month than the average house does ALL YEAR. His annual energy bill is larger than the average American's annual salary and he refuses to use alternative forms of energy that his electric company offers!!
He's full of ****, and he's a motherfucking hypocrite. SHUT THE FUCK UP AL! And go fuck yourself.
While I have seen Al Gore be a hypocrite (like blaming H. Bush for the tax increase Gore help draft) and his own personal business ventures have not been "environmentally friendly,"
he is certaintly not wrong on Global Warning at all, and it is occurring.

The question continues to be how much is man contributing to this and what we can do about it.
Even W. Bush has conceded that man is accelerating the warming process.

The problem is that people like Al Gore offer no solutions, and they often drown out we environmentally conscience engineers.
That is personally getting to me, especially when the co-founder of Greenpeace has "wisen up" and works with engineers now.

Only engineers have the solutions to the problem that the public is willing to accept.
Unfortunately, the public doesn't want to pay the "costs" of it -- from money to changes in their lifestyle.

Hell, even the German auto industry has missed its volunteer CO2 reductions and they have pushed back the mandatory ones as a result.
The public bitches and moans, degrades engineers as the problem, but offers no solutions whatsoever than mandates and restrictions.

December 25, 2005. For the first time in over 100 years there's a measurable amount of snow in South Texas, where I live. I don't remember how much in inches there was, but must have been a couple to three inches of snow. Like Peter was saying about Colorado, weather is very diverse in different places around the world. Is the temperature of the earth rising? On average I would say yes, but is it because you and I drive an SUV? No. I started reaing about global warming today and somewhere I read about solar cycles which for me seems to be a more credible cause of global warming.

In other words: newsflash! The sun is hot. :p

Al Gore isnt perfect and i have never liked him or his censor supportive wife, but at least he is trying to make people aware of global warming. Sure he wastes alot of power in his own home, but whatever, just by making people aware of the problem he is doing more than most of us who sit around and bitch about things but never do anything about it. Im not saying Gore should be given praise and medals for what he is doing, but awareness is important to making problems go away, maybe someone should step up and take the next step since he is taking one himself. That seem to be the problem in this country, we want everyone else to do things yet we all (myself included) do nothing and then complain when nothing gets done. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but when your opinion turns into a complaint, either stop complaining or get off your ass and do something. Thats a big reason why i dont complain all that much....because i know i wont get off my ass and do something, and besides, complaining doesnt accomplish much, actions do.

All the capital letters and exclamation points in the world won't make global warming go away. But keep trying if you want.

Well it got your ATTENTION didn't it!!!!! By the way did you go to the GIS Web-Site????? I thought so, you didn't. What did your parents and neighbors say about having to buy a NEW CAR or TRUCK every 5 years as Al Gore your BUDDY, not mine proposed in Legislation??? Bet ya NEVER asked, did ya??? I put certain things out, and you want to just omit it and keep arguing. You can have YOUR Opinion, and I resepct Your Opinion. But you don't mine!! We've went round on different topics before, and again it's the same.

We have more TREES now than in 1800!!
One Adult TREE produces enough Oxygen for 18 people...How do I know, I'm a Tree Farmer with 23,000 Trees.QUOTE]

No you're not. you're full of ****. what kind of trees do you grow?

You're telling me that you own thousands of acres of land and you do nothing with it but let trees sit and grow there?

Maybe you've never heard of a little thing called timber. see it's what you get when you cut trees down and sell them, which means jack **** for the status of the world because it pretty much causes a thousand times as much pollution and damage for every tree cut down than that tree helps.

people love to spout these two contradictions. yes, there are more trees now than in 1880. but the trees that are were around in 1880, are the same trees that were around in 1780. as opposed to the trees that are around in 2007 which aren't the same trees that were around in 1997. It really doesn't much matter what an adult tree produces when over 80% of the trees in the world are not and will never reach maturity.

as for al Gore he's a dip **** asshole and I don't care what he says. thanks Al for perpetrating industrial pollution all over the world for thirty years and then once it becomes impossible to lie and hide it anyone, jump on the bandwagon and shake your finger while you sit by and don't do a damn thing to stop the world burning, you smug bastard.

Real nice answer calpoon! First, I grow White Oak, Northern Red Oak, Hickory, Ash & Eastern White Pine. And yes I do have the Emerald Ash Borer. As for acreage, 1,538. in 5 different states, Oh. Ky. Mi. Wi. Mn. and thats not including where I live. I said I was a Tree Farmer, thats means you plant & harvest & plant again. It's called a Renewable Resource. 80% of the trees owned in Ohio is in private hands, not the State, not the Government.

My adult trees consist of trees 18"DBH and up. As for you calling it Timber, your wrong. It's defined as Timber Cropland & Reforestation. Ask the IRS & D.O.A. I plant in rotation, not all of my trees are mature, somes only 20' tall and 4"-6"DBH. Last years planting is 1 foot tall. Do you really think 23,000 trees would take up ALL my acreage? Fraid not, I have 5,000 trees (Eastern White Spruce) that I'll have planted this year from where I harvested White Pine last year. And I have more to clean out the stumps so I can plant next year, and the after, and the next also.

Question calpoon, did you go to the GIS Web-Site??? No, figured that right off for the remarks you made!! I try to give you and others something to look at, and DEBATE it!!! You slam me and one of my incomes, my work!! Thats a real nice post. Tells me a great deal about you as a person.

Why did you jump ALL over me? I've never answered one of your posts, even on another thread. I've never said anything bad about you, but you jump on me, WHY? I'd like an answer! "The Smug Bastard," did you mean that for me????

So we have more trees now than we did in the 19th century? We also have more people, factories, combustion engines etc.

i like to look at pictures of naked girls and jerk off.

...and global climate change is real.

AWESOME!!! Hilarious! ...and to the point. Perfect summation of this topic being discussed at FreeOnes.

And look who is spreading the noise on Freeones for the right wing noise machine! It doesn't make sense. A usually smart man buying into this kind of thing. Are people even here just trying to discredit Gore because they want to do their part towards us not compromising our economic dominance and environmental carelessness in the name of profit? Did you already know it was just right wing noise Peter? Or do you really believe it?

I'm confused, **********. Why are you calling me Peter??

I can assure you that I'm not Peter Gazinya, that's for sure. I hardly think my comment helped out the right-wing noise machine on this stupid Gore-is-a-hypocrite stunt. I merely said that IF something like that had any substance to it (and in this case, it doesn't), it would be a bit discouraging, but it wouldn't make Al Gore's public position on the issue any less correct.

And aside from that, I linked to 2 articles that helped to debunk the whole story. Also, as it was an obvious, cheapest-of-the-cheap partisan hit job, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert had a lot of fund tearing it apart.

Yeah, the more trees now than in 1800-or-whenever argument is an old Rush Limbaugh line, and I've seen it sliced and diced and logically destroyed numerous times.

Finally, if anyone wants to ******* themselves and see a textbook example of the stupid "Well gee, it's snowing outside now - so much for global warming!" argument, then check this out - the ignorant (right-wing - surprise!!) fool actually shows us a pile of snow next to his house (or somewhere). Wow - take THAT Al Gore!!

I agree, he may be beating the same old drum, and not an expert on the subject, but the nature of it is too important to not listen to what he says. As I said, I think the Tom Brokaw special about it is a lot more intense.

Is global warming really happening?
I doubt it. Maybe. One scientist says yes, the other no and round and round.
I personally don't trust these "scientists" who study global warming because they need to keep the grant money coming. Thats how they survive,by government and private funding. Its their livelihood. So if a guy gets paid a large sum to study the effects of "greenhouse gasses" for 5 years he better come up with something if he wants to see more greenbacks coming in. And another guy better go against it if wants the same.

**** between 1815 and around 1850 the planet was freezing cold.****** winters and hardly any summers for 40 years. I bet peple were worrying about "global freezing" then.
Its a natural course of nature, the planet is been around for billions of years. Aside from nuclear bomb(s) being dropped, I think we give ourselves too much credit to think us humans can change the weather.
I'm more apt to belive the "ebb and flow" theory then believing the world is heating up and were all gonna fry soon.
However, if you really think its true. You can help eliminate your carbon footprint now by:
stop eating all food products that you dont actually hunt and **** yourself.
remember to cook on an open fire you have started by rubbing 2 sticks together(no lighters).
dont drive or ride in any manufatured vehicle that use fuel or that was built using fuel.
Stop wearing clothes unless you make them yourself using material youve grown.
Stop watching TV and using computers.
ect ect.
Basically live like a caveman, thats it. Because almost everything we touch and use in our lives needed some sort of carbon energy to exist.
So therefore if it is true unless the human race is prepared to live like Lothar of the hill people, I guess were doomed.

Did someone say Al Gore?

Ahhh Al Gore, A Genius, I sincerely mean that. I bet John F Kerry is kicking himself in the ass for not coming up with such a "Brilliant!!!" idea.
He should win some kind of award.
I mean nothing gets our attention like" your all gonna die".

Lets see, Al Gore.
What has he done since losing the presidential election in 2000.
Well first he publicly stated he was robbed out of the presidency.
Then he disappears. Wheres Al? No one knows.
Then he resurfaces about a year later, full beard, about 20 lbs heavier, and is going around screaming like a televangelist. "He played on your fears!!!!! He Betrayed you!!!!. Pass the hat around freinds, sweating more than George Kennedy in Cool Hand Luke.
He was acting so strange even the Clintons kept theyre distance, as did the whole democratic party. It seemed Al was only a poor, forgotten, multi- millionare for a while there.
But now hes found his niche, a perfect angle.
"Listen to me or your all gonna die"
Now thats an attention grabber if there ever was one.
So he makes a Mike Moore style film, swoons it up with hollywood muckity mucks, wins an oscar, and Now he is in a perfect position for, ready?, The Democratic nomination for the 2008 presidential election.
Like I said, Genius!!!! Brilliant!!.
Those shallow hollywood phonys will drop Obama faster than they dropped Hillary, for Al Gore that is, after all, he's one of them now.
Have a nice day:)

Oh just one more thing, I almost forgot,Why are so many apt to believe the threat of global warming but not the threat of religious fanatics and tyrannos dictators having and using nuclear weapons?
I mean, the detonation of one fission or thermonuclear bomb anywhere on the planet, that'll get ya some real m-f-ing global warming.

Actually, that'd help accelerate Nuclear-Winter. Just so you know.

Around 30 years ago there was something called Global Cooling!

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15391426/site/newsweek/

Think about this! It's July 2007 and tempatures are not getting
past 32 in Texas!
Quick! What can "Al Gore and the Scientist" do to save us from
freezing and warm the earth back up.
Keep are cars running all the time!
Fly thousands of 747's with giant heaters to warm the air!
Come on folks!
Can humans really change the tempature of Earth?

The Sun is HOT!

The US *REJECTED* Kyoto in 1998

Why is no-one talking about Bush abandoning Kyoto when he came to office and putting pressure on him to resign it? Or just to resign?
That's because the US shot down Kyoto in 1998.
Clinton already abandoned it back in 1998.
Not one, single US Senator voted for its adoption, and Clinton didn't get convince one of them to vote for it.
I'm sick and tired of having to point this out, and it's utter BS to push it on W.

Why? Because that was Clinton, he'd agree to something knowing full well it would die and never get ****** by the US Congress.
He wasn't a realist, he wasn't addressing issues, he was completely PR-focused.
In fact, he cut more government programs in 1994-1998, cut various welfare standards, etc... more than any President in recent history.
But if you watched his speeches, you'd think the opposite -- he was probably one of the biggest American Repubicanists of the latter 20th century, at least in the middle of his two terms.

Back to Kyoto, in reality, more and more nations now agree that Kyoto is flawed, because it doesn't include China and India.
At the time of Kyoto, the output of either nation -- especially China -- was not nearly as it is now.
I mean, China is the #2 polluter now, and their pollution against industrial output (efficiency) is actually worse than the US now.

Hell, even German isn't meeting its Kyoto-aligned mandatory cuts.

Until we renovate the power grid in the US and make it fairly clean, then we can't do **** -- nada, nothing, zip.
No hydrogen powered vehicles (hydrogen from electrolysis), much less direct electrical usage.

As I have repeated stated, and the co-founder of Greenpeace continues to scream to no avail, the only 2 viable, mass energy sources are nuclear fission and wind.
Until the ignorant American "popular environmentalists" and their lawyers stop wasting the time of us engineers, we can't get anything done without being bogged down with litigation.

From the common, gross ignorance on the safe reality of nuclear fission to jack-asses like Ted Kennedy who think wind mills are an "eye sore" and are fighting them in his home state.
Until then, I really don't care about hearing about the effects, I only want the people working against the real solutions that would work to stop wasting my time.

I'm an engineer, and I've got a job to do, and that's solve problems, not bitch about them.
Bush pissed me off, until after the 2004 election (remember, I never voted for him), when he actually put $4 billion towards nuclear fission research with 9 other nations.
Shocked the hell out of me, and made me rethink my view on his energy policies, which I now partially agree with (as of 2005).

We wouldn't have the Internet if it wasn't for Al Gore!

What a loon. I'm just curious to see what the next scare will be. We've had Acid Rain, Bird Flu, SARS, Ozone Depletion, DDT, Rain Forests, Y2K, PCB's, and on and on and on..... It makes no difference how real these things are, it's just funny how the left always have some feel good agenda on their plate.

Scientists in the 70's were convincing everyone we were entering a scary Ice Age, but now it's Gloabl Warming? Please. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling

Global Cooling ... and what reduced Nitrates, Sulfides and other things have done ...

Scientists in the 70's were convincing everyone we were entering a scary Ice Age, but now it's Gloabl Warming? Please. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_cooling
Actually, with the reduction of Sulfides, Nitrates and other emissions, green house gasses are actually have a greater effect.
The previous amount of pollution due to compounds of those elements were somewhat of a "counter-balance" against some CO2.
But now their emissions have been greatly reduced (and rightly so because of the various and directly or near-directly related and immediate health issues to humans),
CO2 has an even greater effect in these more recent decades than prior to the 80s.
