This man speaks the truth. Why exactly were the mods stripped of whatever power they had to ban members or control the board? There's really no purpose to having the word "moderator" as their title when they can't do much of anything anymore.

I thought it then and I think it now: there has to be an oversight and/or appeals mechanism, rather than just letting the mods torch whoever they want too. Keep in mind, georgy remains a mod. Back in the day, he was the Exxon Valdez of this board. Hell, he even admitted in print that he banned people because of the pissy mood he was in, on a particular day. Just like voting for Prez, it's down to a lesser of two evils. I'll take what we have over going back to the fiasco it used to be around here.

It involves appointing and supporting qualified, reasonable, impartial and dedicated individuals to moderate the boards. They have to be trusted to make fair, unbiased decisions.
Simple test: I am applying to be a moderator because:
- A moderator helps make a board a better place to visit by ensuring that all members are treated fairly and equally. A good moderator provides an important service and is respected. (Pass)
- I will wear the 'moderator' title like a 'badge of honor' because it elevates my status. I will apply and enforce rules as I see fit. A good moderator controls the board and is intimidating. (Fail)
Edit - Note that there currently are a number of excellent moderators on the boards.

IT SEEMS FROM MY ROAMING AROUND THE BOARD AND LOOKING AT BANNED PEOPLES LATEST ENTRIES- THE BANNING WAS UNFAIR, I WOULD LOOK INTO IT SOME PLEASE !!!
BAD CONSEQUENCES OF IT.
The banned people just make another account and anyone that did not like that persons politics or attitude can use the IGNORE BUTTON.
The IGNORE button only works on the account that you select. The banning only means that person can come back later, often very soon !!
And guess what if that happens the ignore button needs to be set again for the new account after some people learn THAT ACCOUNT IS NOT TO THEIR LIKING.
So in effect the ignore button only works for longstanding accounts. Loosen up the rules some and be less strict not more.
I have seen a thread start that is unusual maybe even a lie but not offensive and seen a lot of attacking of that person- some of it over the top.
The attackers pounce on the thread and the attackers stay and the original thread author gets banned. The thread author did not use negative language or attack anyone
and he is gone. People do not know each other. It is hard for me to take ANYTHING PERSONALLY ON THIS BOARD SINCE I DO NOT KNOW THE PERSON AND WE HAVE NOT MET EACH OTHER.
If you read a persons dozen threads and determine he is uninteresting- IGNORE HIM USING THE PROPER BUTTON. (Maybe a thread showing how to get at it and push it would be nice)
FACE IT- some people will not use it as they want the drama and go around looking for a place to slip in a WHITTY NEGATIVE THOUGHT. (and they do not get banned)
SO I WOULD SUGGEST USING SOME DISGRESSION ON THE LANGUAGE- UNLESS IT BECOMES A BICKERING BOARD.
PERHAPS A BICKERING SECTION- NO HOLDS BARRED MIGHT BE AN OPTION !! LANGUAGE COULD BE CONTROLLED MAYBE
WITH WORD CENSORING BY FREEONES.

Has it occurred to you that some people were not banned because of their last posts, or perhaps even because of a post at all? Or perhaps that if it was their last post that got them banned that said post no longer exists because it was inappropriate enough to be a bannable offense, and thus probably worth deletion?
And as has been said in this very thread, if they do that they move from a temporary ban (which most bans are here) to a permanent one.
Duplicate account rules primarily exist for two reasons: 1) to stop people from posting crap with a dummy account in order to prevent accumulating infractions on their "main" account in order to avoid banning, and 2) to stop people from making more accounts when banned, so that banning actually has some meaning beyond a pointless, toothless slap on the wrist.
I wonder what kind of person is desperate enough loner to spend all his time to create countless amounts of fake accounts just to be able to post trash in porn forums... :dunno:

Wow, I am seeing a TON of new banned account pop up. I love it! Who are these crazy people that have all of this time on their hands to make all of the duplicate accounts? Weirdos. Thanks a million for putting a stop to this childishness.
