Is America the major trade center in the world? It seems like whatever happens to us effects the rest of the world.

Is this true and can you explain this?

Well to be humble, we are the Superpower of the world and pretty much where the main bastion for capitalism also but Bush last actions and what seems to follow is far away from capitalism.

So we don't want socialism, but we want capitalism?

Whats so negative about socialism. I forgot all of it from high school.

Are you serious or are you kidding me? This seems to be a trick question that I will gladly step right into it. I'll give you credit it seems like you are 19 years old, I am a gen x and I grew up during the cold war, met some folks that came from comunist and socialist countries i.e. U.S.S.R (Now Russia) , Cuba and China to name the most infamous ones. There are some diferences in what some call "comunist" and "socialist" This link will break it down to you better than I can because I might leave some information out of it.

pretty much s control by the goverment by nationalizing private property and the industry. the state that's the elected body which nornally has one official party runs the country by means of big time propaganda though television, newspapers, schools and small comitees that report any subversive action. Religion is non existence or prohibited and either the working class or farmers have to start this revolution. Thats a short version but there is more to it so read that link.

Look at it this way. You've heard the saying "that guy has a stick up his ass"?

Well America has a fuckin tree up its ass! Redwood to be precise!

it's a little bit more complex than that. If you want to find out what socialism and communism are really about i'd read some karl marx.

there is a difference between so-called communist countries like china and the former USSR, and even Cuba and a big difference with many south American countries in terms of what their actual national policies are.

Don is right about some of the flaws that have been exhibited in countries that have attempted to implement some forms of communism. But on the other hand many countries have also been highly successful both in commerce and in social/human services through socialist policies, such as Canada and many European nations.

But as to the posters original question, I'd say yes. While in the last few decades production has been in increasing decline, the US is still the world's chief importer and consumer of goods, so we are pretty much the center of the world economy. there are a lot of reasons for that, I can get into it more later.
