A five-year-old's battle with obesity, what the motherfuck?

I am tired of these obesity-crybabies.

All the obese people i know eat like pigs, guzzle down full-sugar coke, and huff and puff when they have to walk up a flight of stairs.

Unless they quit that behaviour, I feel no sympathy

This goes along with the Texas Brings The Pain thread. Just more examples of how parents don't discipline their children. Instead of telling the child no and listening to them whine awhile (or spanking them *ahem!*), let's just pump them full of the food they want so they'll shut up.

Totally agree! Parent's aren't doing their jobs... they'd seemingly rather be a kids "friend" than a parent these days, and being a responsible parent means saying NO!

I will agree with Sporty Carr on this matter...It comes down to the parent or parents with this. Get all the junkfood out of the house, I know easier said than done right? But it does work, stock up on carrots, celery, lettuce, and water. And if the kid throws a tantrum take him for a walk, or buy a punching bag for him something to let out that emotion and calories to burn. Parents just need to lay the lawful hand down on the kids and stop being buddy buddy with them. Hopefully this kid will looses the weight. And hey emcee or whatever the fuck your name is. Your a low born piece of shit you know that calling a 5yr old kid a fat fuck? I bet that 198th post made you proud huh? Make fun of all the adults you want but to make fun of a kid and I don't care how fat he is that is fucking wrong.

This is probably terribly unfair of me to speculate, but when I see these stories, I wonder if they're a result Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Even seemingly reasonable people end up becoming sympathetic to the parent(s).

Anyway, I'm just tankful that there's an obesity story not featuring Americans.

I watched that show and even though the mother was seemingly giving the child healthy-ish foods to eat (while the cameras were there at least) she was still giving him way too much for a five year old - something like two meal sized plates of food and several snack in between all in the space of two hours, all the while saying it was "alright" because the food she was giving him was "healthy". She did seem to a be a bit of a 'feeder' if you know what I mean. Especially in blaming his condition on some unknown genetic disorder that doesn't exist (I'm not saying genetic disorders of this type don't exist, they do, but in this case there was nothing there, or at least nothing known) and failing to take any of the blame upon herself. This is just another case of over eating and lack of exercise. Just like the vast majority of obesity cases. The kid being 5 years old makes it all the worst but no different to any of the others out there.

It's like those fat kids on Maury. It isn't a medical condition, it's goofy as parents whose idea of parenting is to give the kid what they want whenever they want. I mean if you've ever seen that show the kids there just eat the fattiest food because they want it as mom can't say no to her little Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

Absolutely. Parents need more discipline than the kids. All of these behavioral issues start right at home. This particular parent is going to eventually kill her child. Let's face it, at this rate this kid is going to die.

Soon.

I think it's high time some sort of disciplinary action be put to some of these parents. It's crazy that a person can be fined for putting animals in health threatening situations, but not for putting their own children at risk. Doctors and teacher should be reporting these things to the child welfare services on sight. There's got to be something done about this, but as I said before, people won't be satisfied until someone is killed.

Quit feeding your kid garbage. That's the underlying health issue.

qft. Its every parents responsibility to feed their kids healthy snacks and meals. You wouldn't sprinkle arsenic into their food, but why feed them food that is going to cause them a long life of suffering, disease and eventually death. I get that most parents don't eat healthy themselves but once you have a new life to nourish and feed...shouldn't that be enough inspiration to kind of turn around your own eating habits?

Like its not fucking rocket science. Veggies, fruit, healthy meat and milk/juice and getting kids outdoors. whooooo soooo tough to handle.

Another thing too, is it all starts when they are young or at least when a child is old enough to eat solid foods. Get them hooked on healthy food right then and there.
